“Always a great place to do some hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2015 NEW

Lake Louise is a great destination any time of year. During the summer months you can go out on the lake in a rented canoe, or hike along its western border and beyond, all the way to the source of the lake high in the mountain if you're up for it.

There is also a very popular hike that rises up the mountain immediately to the west of the lake. It's a great hike for those in reasonable health - you gain a lot of altitude and the view at the top is excellent, but it's slope is gentle enough for most. There is also a tea hut near the top where you can get great food and drinks.

In the winter months be sure to check out the ice sculpture competition!

“Always lovely to look at”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2015 NEW

Stop in at Louise if you are in the Banff area or driving the parkway. It's just a few minutes off the main road and it offers a great view, a nice walk, and/or a visit to a stately historic old CP hotel. If you go into the hotel (and you should), you can have a snack or a meal overlooking the lake. Check out the lobby too - many interesting things to see there, including the chandelier. If you are visiting in the winter, you can go for a sleigh ride or skate on the rink that is cleared on the lake. Parking is plentiful and free and the parking lot is just a short walk from the lake and the hotel. There are interesting birds there that want to eat from your hand, and will wait on your car roof for you to feed them!

“Simply Magical.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2015 NEW via mobile

Our visit to this spectacular lake and stay at the Fairmont chateau coincided with the unseasonally early first snow for the season (September 2014), The lake transformed into a winter wonderland over night, we were in its awe, a wonderful experience.

“Lunch/Dinner by the Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2015 NEW

The Fairmont is a great place to stop into when you are in need of a relaxing break and some refreshment. We walked around the hotel and found a lovely little restaurant with windows to the great view of the lake and the melting glacier. I recommend going in not peak times. We were well past lunch and well before dinner and got a table right at the window.

The lake has some amazing hikes, you can hike easily around the lake, part of the path is paved, but the best is to go up to Lake Agnes to the tea house and for the truly adventurous ... Climb up to the pavilion on top of the beehive. The paths are well marked and easy to follow. To get up to the Beehive, you have to hike around Lake Agnes and up a steep slope, but the climb is worth it.

Fantastic conditions and and friendly staff. The hill was in great shape. Shame they do not serve Big Rock Beer.
