This pub is located in a basement right next to Beaver Tails. You will probably walk past this pub and dismiss it because of its looks and location. You should consider this place if you want a no fuss good pub type meal of good proportions for a very reasonable price.
Its a pub with wooden floors, wooden tables and chairs.
It is frequented by locals who are just having a beer, you could have workers sat at the bar in suits having a beer, eating a meal and watching rounders (baseball) on one of the two tv's, and you get tourists.
There are a couple of dart boards and video games at the far end of the bar.
I had a Chowder in a bread bowl for starters. The soup was hot, and very tasty, and the bonus was you could eat the bread bowl which was soaked with the tasty soup.
My wife ordered the 6oz steak sandwich. She likes it very rare. When it came it appeared very well done, and she commented that there was no way that it was rare. However it was exactly how she likes her steak. it was cooked perfectly. She also said the garlic bread that it came on was also very tasty.
I tried one of the house burgers,i believe it was a new addition to the menu called a black jack. I decided on the elk burger. It was one of the tastiest burgers i have had. There was absolutely no fat coming out of the burger. The burger had a litlle spicy kick to it which left a nice glow in my chest.
Both meals come with either a decent portion of fries or onion rings.
Very tasty meals at a very reasonable price for an eatery on the main road of Banff.
Plenty choice of beer and drinks to wash it all down with.
If you have a good appetite, you could do no worse in Banff than going here and having the Chowder in a bread bowl, followed by one of the burgers, skip sweet here, go outside turn right and go into Beaver tails and have one of their creations for your sweet.
