“Excellent pizza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2014

Stopped at The Bison to try out their popular pizza. It was worth the stop! Mine was the Big Bird and was awesome. I ate half, packed up the rest and had it for dinner the next day. Great food in a sports bar type atmosphere.

“Good meat, good salad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2014

Had a bison burger at this restaurant. The meat was really good and melting in my mouth. The bun was very thick, but still managable. I substituted the potato with salad and was happy with my choice. Salad's Ingredients were very fresh and crispy.

“The Bison never dissapoints!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2014

My wife and I make it a point to make a reso at the Bison if we know we're going to be in Banff.
The service is always fantastic, the atmosphere is warm and relaxing, and the noise level is typically not restrictive to conversation in a normal tone of voice.
The food is always phenomenal! I highly recommend the Bison shortribs with a paired red, but we've never been disappointed with anything we've had off the menu regardless of whether it was an appetizer, entrée or desert.
Prices could be considered on the high side, but in line with this caliber of establishment, and in my opinion worth every penny!
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, but just be sure to make a reservation. This joint tends to fill up and stay filled.

“Great food, but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2014

Last week we went twice to the Bison in Banff, once for lunch and once for dinner. The pizza at lunch was delicious, and very different from any pizza that we ever had: how about a mixture of honey and olive oil to dip in your pizza bites? The price was very reasonable and the service was great. It is very busy, but we managed to get in within 5 minutes. Dinner is upstairs and we went there in the evening. Again, very busy so try to get a reservation. If you go after 8:30, you should be okay. Again, the food was delicious and very different, and expensive. The four of us ordered poutine as an appetizer, thinking that there would be plenty to share as we had eaten poutine in Québec. The poutine arrived in a small cast iron frying pan and was maybe 2 cm thick. It was made from gnocchi and not french fries. It was delicious, but at $17, one would expect a bit more. The cheapest thing on the menu was a Bison burgher at $19. It came with the most delicious potato wedges covered in a cheese mixture and there were plenty of them. The burgher was so thick that only one of the four of us could finish it. The other items on the menu were also expensive, but the food is so different that you might want to try it on a special occasion or even after a day of hiking, skiing, etc.

“Great Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2014

Loved the service. Had the escarole in bone marrow and it was very good. Also tried the Bison short ribs which were flavourful and nice and hot.
