“Fix the service already!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

We live in Calgary and have a park pass so we are up all the time eating and staying that the Banff Springs. We very often have a drink in the rundle lounge before dinner and every single time we are there, the service is horendous. No one helps you find a table, if you do get a table, they are very often not cleared and dirty. It takes another 5-10 minutes to get a menu, another 10-15 minutes for someone to come back and take our drink, another 15-20 mintues to get our drinks and then more than ample time to recieve our bill. We would drink more but it takes them so long we usually run out of time. One time we ordered food and it was aweful. The food at the Bow Valley Grill is much better, eat there if you have a choice.

Finally they replaced the old dirty chairs in this place but now they are too modern for the room and not that comfortable. I kind of liked the old chairs that looked like a king's throne. They were just dirty and old but the style was better.

I don't know why an expensive "world class" hotel has such bad service in the Rundle Lounge and I see I'm not the first to complain. Is it lack of staff? Whatever it is, management needs to take a hint and fix the problem. I gave it two stars for the view and zero stars for the food and service.

“Service Needs Some Work”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I live in Banff & had some family in town & they decided they wanted to head over to the Rundle Lounge to grab a laid back meal. We sat down & waited for a solid 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledge we were there & there was only 5 or 6 other tables. There was one blonde server taking care of all the tables while 5 or 6 other staff members stood around/behind the bar joking around & doing nothing. When we got our menu's we decided to just head into town to get food because we figured that if it took 20 minutes to get menus, it would probably take awhile to get food as well. Can't say anything about the food since we didn't end up eating here but the service was brutal, there are many other restaurants in town that will take care of you!

“Wonderful lunch and total relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

We stopped at the Banff Springs to "check it out" and had lunch at the Rundle Lounge. Great service and wonderful food. Good wine and excellent dessert. Beautiful views and a nice facility. Not much more to say.

“Not top rate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We visited the Rundle Lounge twice during our stay at Fairmont Banff Springs. On our first visit, we sat on the patio and had drinks. It was pleasant until an upsetting incident with a rude waitress. Her supervisor apologized profusely. On our second visit, we had dinner. Our table had not been cleaned (crumbs and spills) and the server was unusually unkempt. After reminding her to please clean the table, she did. We ordered the Portobello mushroom panini and grilled tuna foccacia, The food was OK. We were not asked how we would like the tuna prepared (It was served rare). The ambiance was pleasant.
