“I expected more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Had dinner here to celebrate our last night in the Canadian Rockies. Was expecting more from such a famed hotel. Our glass-topped table had many smudges as well as the glasses and flatware. Service was off. Server wanted to take our dinner order immediately upon seating without taking cocktail orders. When we did order cocktails, my hub cocktail came to the table wrong TWICE. Would not have expected this at service oriented establishment. Our younger children loved the children's buffet. But the server made it clear that our 13 year old could not partake. Ordered a 1/2 chicken - which was bland. The highlight of my meal was the seafood gazpacho - difficult to eat as it is served in a cocktail glass - but delicious & memorable. My prime rib was overcooked. My hub enjoyed his steak - but was not overly impressed. Dinner w drinks, dessert & tip totaled about $350 for 3 adults & 2 children's buffets. For that price, I expect more in terms of level of service and quality. The final kicker - you have to pay for parking if you are not staying at the hotel. Would have gone elsewhere while in Banff for dinner & stopped at the hotel for a drink.

“Buffet Breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We thought this would be wonderful - over the top - but it just did not meet our expectations. Had breakfast two mornings and the food was good but nothing special. Some of the food just was not hot - there was a great selection but no wow factor - the service was really good even though they were very busy.

“Breakfast buffet for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Although a little pricey for someone who doesn't eat much the variety and taste was great, there was something to cater to all tastes. I'm an omelet lover myself and really like to have my personal touch put to an omelet when I can and you could do this here.

“Good Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Nice décor, good service, meals well served. High end dining with prices to match.
Venison and prime rib were very good. Clam chowder is worth trying as well.

“Excellent restaurant for dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We were a table of 20, never an easy situation for a waiter or a kitchen, but Danny Day provided outstanding service -- personable and professional -- and the food was superb. Appetizers of corn and lobster chowder, romaine salad and seafood cocktail were very good. For our entrees, many expressed preferences -- e.g., salmon undercooked or well done, prime rib rare or the end cut -- and all requests were met perfectly. The portions were generous, but we all enjoyed the dessert buffet in any case!
