“Had a very enjoyable meal.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

In our hotel, so had to give it a try. My lamb was very nice, and the other meals were perfectly good as well. The service was the outstanding aspect of our evening, and I wish I could remember the young lady's name. I stopped in the next day and mentioned, to who I believe is the owner, how terrific our server was. It was no surprise to her. The restaurant also handled a large tour group at the time we were booked with no apparent negative outcome. I would recommend giving El Toro your business.

“A great group experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

We went at El Toro as a group. We were around 22 people and, as such, we had a special menu (salad, steak and chocolate mousse). The service was very good and organized. The food was also very good. I liked the salad vinaigrette with raspberries. The chocolate mousse was divine! I really appreciated their capacities of serving a large group with efficiency.

“Poor value”

Very expensive for what you get. Covenient location for those staying at Irwins Mountain Inn, but not good value compared to other establishments we ate at.

“Fancy and yet Approachable Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We were told that restaurants in Banff were overpriced and unremarkable. So we ate the food we brought from Calgary the first night in but decided to give it a try the second night and glad we did. We liked El Toro so much that went back for dinner the next day. The ambient was great, dim enough to be romantic but not too dim that one can't see the food. The staff were very pleasant who gave us a nice table even we did not have a reservation on relatively busy Thursday and Friday nights. For drinks, a refreshing mojito and local beers from Canmore were soothing after a hard day of adventure. Each night we ordered a couple tapas and a main course to share while our boy picked from the kid's menu and then a extravagant flaming banana for dessert. For tapa, the stuff portobello mushroom was delicious and, for the main course, the slow cooked grass feed lamb was excellent. The waitress prepared the flaming banana right in front of us, quite a show. The tab was less than C$100 including everything - quite a bargain.
