“Great Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Stayed here in March 2012 ( new to Trip Advisor hence the late review). A well appointed hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Loved the room and had all that was needed. The underground spa pool was perfect to unwind after a hectic ski. Walking distance of Banff but bus stop just outside ( discount for hotel residents). Ski bus from just outside hotel to all 3 resorts....hopefully will stay the same for 2013!

Room Tip: Ask for one at the back to avoid main road noise

This is a good hotel with well appointed rooms and good venue. The only disappointment was the restaurant being part of the Chili's chain. However the service was good and so no complaints. I would happily recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues.

We passed through Banff towards the end of September. On arrival we were offered a upgrade at $20 extra. We declined, but we're then given the room anyway, as it was ready for occupation and our booked one wasn't! It was a two room apartment. Modern and very pleasantly furnished, although one of the few place we stayed with only one (very comfortable) bed (not that we minded). It has a good underground car park included in the price. A very reasonable breakfast was included in the price which is taken in the restaurant. We also ate both evenings in the restaurant Chillies. The food was typical mid to upper end British pub food, reasonably priced for Canada. Whilst out of town, its only a pleasant 15 minute walk there.

We arrived at the hotel 2 hours ago after booking it last minute for 2 nights. Usually we stay at the Rimrock, but thought this might be a nice change. All commercial sites (Expedia, Hotels.com) offered it for $120 a night, which is a great deal. Called the hotel directly and they (Sherwin [--]) offered a superior room for slightly more ($120 first night and $136 second night). On their website a superior is describe as twice the size of a standard, so for such small difference I took it. Upon arriving at the hotel Tim at the reception offered an "upgrade" to superior for another $60. I told him we were told this is what we were getting from the outset, to which he said that words "superior" and "standard" on their website are "just words" and even though we might have been told we would get a superior room, the agent really meant standard. Since we arrived at 8:30 PM and I had 2 little kids in the car, the last thing I felt like doing was make a huge deal, but I told Tim several times that what they are doing is misrepresentation and is unacceptable. SO, the moral of the story is BUYER BEWARE. If you book directly with these guys make sure they email you an exact description of the ROOM SIZE otherwise you are really taking your chances because to them the room names are "just words". This is both unfortunate and highly disappointing. I guess it is back to the Rimrock.

In all fairness to the Fox, the very poor rating is based on this experience, but that really set the tone for the rest of the stay. Always amazes me how much money these places fork out to get the guests through the door, and how little effort to make sure they will come back. Incredibly poor way to handle a situation where they were in the wrong.

I am very disappointed to read this review. I must clarify for future travelers that we honor our rates posted, act with integrity, and value each and every guest. I would argue this was a case of mis- interpretation, rather that mis-representation.

I have to say that this review is very one-sided, and does not represent all the facts, nor the entire truth, and does not outline how we tried to come to a resolution for this guest.

Dear Sir, I would be more than happy to discuss this personally, as was our Front Office Manager when you checked out. I understand you were not willing to discuss this with him, but if you want further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

We have recently returned from a holiday in Canada. Our suite at Fox was most cosy and comfortable. It was great to have a separate lounge/kitchen area. The suite was well equipped with T towel, washing up liquid, kettle, coffee machine, microwave etc. Everything you could want. The breakfast could maybe have been a bit more imaginative, but was perfectly adequate. Very good overall value for what we paid. I would recommend it.
By the way there is a pleasant thermal spa in the basement - towels and changing area provided.

Nice place---street entrance, like an little townhouse with 2 beds downstairs --and the hot tub took up a huge area --replica of the original cave and basin--very nice--the Chili's restaurant was in the lobby and we enjoyed margaritas and nachos that were very good. The negative feature is lack of sound-proof and we could hear toilet flush and people sneezing and kids running around and conversations, etc. the beds with the duvets were very nice. The parking is great and you have the option of parking right in front of your door. Also, breakfast is included but unfortunately, the same old standard everywhere else--

Room Tip: ask for a room where hopefully it will be quiet

We stayed for one night only, but we were excited about the warm atmosphere. Friendly staff, nice and quiet room with a lot of space. You've got to step out a short distance to reach the room, which in cold, rainy and snowy days can be either a problem or an adventure, depending on your mood. I didn't mind a few raindrops on my head.
Free wi-fi in the bedroom. Breakfast is served in Chili's, the hotel restaurant. You can fix your own waffle from 3 machines, which Ihad never tried before.
I had dinner at Chili's also. You can choose from a vast menu and was plenty satisfyed with a tasteful trout and Canadian wine.

Room Tip: All apartments are exposed to cold and rain, but the distance is bigger to those in the back buildin...
