“Smooth safe ride from Canmore to Banff and back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014 NEW

There are not many places where you can ride 23 km non-stop on a good surface, separated from traffic. This is one of them. The easiest way to do this is Canmore to Banff first, and the easier Banff to Canmore (slightly downhill plus we had a tail wind, which apparently is common) second. There is fairly steady bicycle traffic, but the trail is wide enough to allow easy passing. A lot of fun and a good workout.

“good trail, especially the downhill part!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014 NEW

For being in the Canadian Rockies, this trail was not too difficult, fairly level, but will wear you out going uphill gradually if you're not an experienced cyclist. Only the more experienced cyclist will love going all the way to Banff on it. We turned around 3/4 of the way there, and enjoyed the long downhill ride back to Canmore much more. A better trail that we enjoyed more was the trip from Canmore out to the Three Sisters Village.

“Ride along the Trans-Canada...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

The reviews made it sound amazing, and it is if you only look to one side where the mountains are. However it is right next to the Trans-Canada highway 95% of the time. At one point we had major traffic on one side of us and a train on the other side - not quite a quiet ride ;) Positives are that it has gentle ups and downs, is paved and has potential! Just wish they would plant some trees between the path and the highway.

“If you want to cycle, do it somewhere else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Honestly, it's a bike path that's right next to the highway. It's not even an attraction I would say. If you want to cycle, there are plenty of bike trails in the area that offer the same or better views but without the highway just next to you...

“It a Bike Trail!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

Really this is not an attraction and was only built since so many people used to travel the trans-Canada hwy unsafely from Banff to Canmore and caused issues with traffic on the Hwy and many accidents so they got smart and built this trail system beside the Hwy heading between the two communities but some idiots still use the Hwy since it's flatter and less crowded.

Now instead of a handful of people trying to risky trip between Banff and Canmore now you have hundreds per day complete the trek via this trail. At least safely now!!
