Thank you very much for your comments in regard to your recent stay at the Spruce Grove Inn; it is the Hotels genuine pleasure to provide a "Welcome Reception" for some of our Tour Groups that have travelled a long way to come and visit the lovely Rockie Mountains & beautiful Banff.
As far as the Hotel Rooms we are proud to provide good sized rooms & the amenties are always being reviewed and updated on a yearly basis.
The Voyager Restaurant is currently moving into an exciting stage as it has just started to be open for Dinners (always open for breakfast) with a New "Smoke House Grill" theme with most of the meats being "smoked" on site: the aim is introduce yet another restaurant choice to Banff visitors.
You are absolutely right when you say it is a lovely, scenic and easy walk from the Hotel to Downtown with all of its many quality restaurant choices.
It is always a true pleasure to welcome Guests from overseas to this beautiful area and we strive tomake their stay a very enjoyable experience.

The room was comfortable and clean with 2 double beds and usual hotel room amenities. A coffee percolator was also standard equipment. Being shoulder season (May), there was no staff in attendance and any enquiries, problems etc had to be directed to the staff in the sister hotel next door. The restaurant was not open and the hotel next door provided dining for breakfast and other meals. It was a 15 minute walk to the centre of town where there were plenty of other dining options.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have their entrances facing onto the reception area. They could be noisy at times...

Why don't you have any fridges in the rooms? Beds are soooo uncomfortable. Would rather have stayed in a cabin. Sorry def not recommend

Good day,
Thank you for your review, observations and comment all such constructive feed back is very helpful to the Hotels' ongoing efforts to provide good quality Guest Service and Guest Experiences.
I am sorry to read that there were some issue in regard to your stay; with regard to Fridges in rooms this is a issue that the Hotel management is working on with the Hotel's ownership. Currently the Hotel does have Fridges (limited number) that can be put into rooms if prior requested - have been doing so quite a lot recently due to Tour Groups arriving with guests that need to keep medications cool.
In regards to the Beds this is always a difficult one as everyone has different tastes when it comes to a Bed (soft, hard, in between etc.), for the most part the Hotel does receive very positive "feed back" in regard to the Beds but of course on occassion they will not suit some people: all the Beds in the Spruce Grove are not more than 2 to 3 years old and they are a very popular Hotel/Hospitality Brand.
Once again many thanks for your comments & observations and I trust you had a chance to enjoy the stunning beauty that is Banff.

We checked in to Spruce Grove Inn for 3 nights. We were allocated room 423 which is next to the lobby and reception desk. The lobby doors are locked at 10.30 at night but as there was some type of concert on in Banff, there seemed to be a lot of noise later than that. Needless to say because of the position of the room, we had little sleep. Also during the day, the window looks out onto the driveway where cars pull up to check in. My husband went to the reception desk to see if there was any possibility of a move considering we were there for another 2 nights. He spoke to LILL who was most obliging. We were upgraded at no expense for the next 2 nights. Our next room faced the back street and had a balcony. It was a large room with a loft ceiling and was nicely decorated. The only thing missing for us was a kettle to boil some water as we are tea drinkers. After 2 requests over 2 nights to the girl on reception, a kettle was bought to our room. Spruce Grove is located about a 15 minute walk from the main shops and restaurants in Banff. It has a car park underneath. Breakfast is served at the adjacent Voyager Inn. A voucher is provided for a cold continental breakfast and if you want a hot breakfast, you pay about $7.00 more. The cold continental breakfast is pretty basic and consisted of the limited range of fruit salad (and if you didn't get in early the decent fruit had been picked out), tubs of yoghurt, pastries, orange juice and tea or coffee. Cereal and bread for toasting were not offered.

Good day and thank you so much for your very constructive comments & observations; receive such constructive comments (both good ones & those that are not so good) they are very helpful for both the Hotel & the Staff in the continual process of striving for improved Guest Service & Visit Experiences.
You are absolutely correct when you mention about a major Concert taking place in Banff (the Sam Roberts Band) over the weekend of your stay - of course the town was busy & those who attended the sold out show continued their partying hence increased noise. It is good to hear that the Guest Service Agent was helpful and got you moved to a more suitable room.
I am sorry that your request for a kettle appears not to have been fullfilled correctly, I apologise because there are kettles available & one should have been delivered to room at once.
The breakfast served in the Voyager Restaurant as you correctly mentioned has both a "Free" Continental option or that Free Coupon can be used as $7 towards the Hot Buffet. We welcome the observations on the Continental Buffet and like all our menus it is under regular review and in fact due to good Guest "Feed Back" we will be adding both Ceral & Toast in the near future.
Once again very many thanks for your very helpful comments and I hope you get another chance to visit beautiful Banff sometime soon.

The Spruce Grove Inn is directly adjacent to the Voyager Inn (same ownership), but there is no actual staff at Spruce Grove Inn...you must check in at Voyager.....the reception desk is always empty. A very long wait to check in as only 2 staff at Voyager check in desk and a lot of folks backed up.....I can live with that, but the room was not ready (at 3pm), so we had to wait an hour. I later found out this is because the Spruce Grove Inn has NO actual staff, they share the Voyager staff....the promised free wi-fi in the room could not have been worse, it was so slow I finally gave up....no amenities in the room at all. My bad for not checking reviews I guess. The topper is the complimentary continental breakfast....upon check in you receive a voucher for $7.00 of a full breakfast in the restaurant - nice, but they fail to mention their is only one staff member working in the restaurant, so there was literally a 20 person lineup waiting to get into an empty restaurant (all tables were still messy - the only girl working was also working the cash register and seating people and bussing tables)...she was swamped, so the nobody was getting seated....when we finally did get a table, we had to set up our own cutlary....no coffee available (you would need someone to actually make it), and no clean drinking glasses left...this is at 9am on a Tuesday morning....at one point, the cook was out cleaning tables....I felt bad for them, but thought things would improve when the manager arrived. No, he was there to get a coffee, he stood and watched the girl run around for a minute, then left......great management.

Overall, a nice looking hotel from outside, absolutely no service inside.....save your money and book one of the many other great Banff hotels.

Good day and thank you for your observations & comments; these are always very helpful for the Hotels in their continuing quest to improve both Customer Service & Guest Experience; the Hotels always strive to go above and beyond in these areas.
I am sorry to hear that your recent stay was not up to expectations: hopefully in response to some of your points; the check in time for both the Voyager Inn and Spruce Grove Inn is 4pm, unfortunately the Spruce Grove Inn front desk does not become fully operational until this coming (Father's Day) weekend in the mean time it is only open at weekends and all check ins & check outs are handled through the Voyager Inn. The two Hotels are with regard to "operating" One Hotel just in two buildings (like properties with annex areas) the Spruce Grove Inn has just rooms & the Voyager Inn has fewer rooms but does have the amenities (such as restaurant, lounge, pool, hot tub etc.).
We do offer all Guests a Complimentary Contential Breakfast; the voucher for which is valued at $7 and can be used towards (i.e.$7 off) an up grade to the Hot Buffet. Unfortunately it appears that your breakfast experience was not up to standard we strive for (due to staff being off sick).
With regard to the internet service which is free and available though both buildings it can on occasions be slow this is due usually to the combination for - supply issues from the outside service supplier and when a lot of guests are on the internet at the same time: these are challenges that the Hotel is working towards resolving.

We stayed at the Spruce Grove Inn in May 2012. We had to register at the Voyager Inn next door as the Spruce was not open all day but there was a connecting corridor (hotel under same ownership). It was at the Voyager where we were able to put our luggage in a secure room until our room was ready, and as we had to check out by 11 a.m.where we placed it before leaving Banff. Our room at Spruce Grove was fairly spacious with the usual coffee/tea making facilities. Clean and bed comfortable. Complimentary continental breakfast was in the Voyager. When we checked out of the hotel we had a long time to wait for our onward transportation which never arrived. The bus claimed to have stopped outside the Spruce Grove although lthe hotel was locked and the driver never called in at the Voyager. The receptionist couldn't have been more helpful in trying to sort this out and making us cups of coffee (sorry name escapes us) but Mr Bailey, general manger, offered to drive us to Calgary in his own car (free of charge) as he was going there that day. We would recommend this hotel although it was about 15 min level .walk to town centre (buses every 40 mins). Short stay so we didn't have time to use leisure facilities

Well very many thanks for your comments & observations; we are just very pleased that you got to enjoy your planned visiting in Calgary and had a good & uneventful return trip home.
It is and always will the goal of the Hotels to continually strive to provide good, quality and caring service to our Clients and Guests; we certainly do not want to see them suffer as a result of other "suppliers" errors.
Once again very many thanks and it was truly our pleasure to look after yourselves during you stay and hopefully you are able to return to the lovely mountains & beautiful Banff to enjoy another visit.

Good day,

I am very happy to you and your family enjoyed a lovely visit to beautiful Banff - a truly amazing location for sure.
Thank you for your comments and I am glad to hear that the Hotel was able to provide you all with a very pleasant & nice base for your stay: it is always very helpful to receive constructive Guest "feed back" (both good and poor) as it helps us in our continuing goal of trying to provide an excellent "Guest Experience"
Your two "points/issues" are gratefully appreciated and will definitely be looking into as being part of the amenties with have available to our Guests - even if only as "upon request" available items.
Once again very many thanks for your observations/comments and hopefully we will be able to welcome yourself and your family back to Banff for many more stays in the lovely mountains.
