I'm not an art lover, so this was not a great place for me to visit. My wife enjoyed it, so you have to decide what type of person you are before visiting

“Just breathing the air and looking around will relax you!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Alberta, is Banff, and one of the most unusual places to stay and get involved with the community is the Banff Center. Accommodation is very good and the Vista restaurant is just terrible because the food is so delicious that you will add pounds to your silhouette which is probably not what you wanted to happen...the architecture and layout of places (the amphitheater, the different pavilions hosting art or science research) are seamlessly connected, with red paint on some structures, contrasting the greenery around and the modern white painted benches. Taking the shortcut from the Center to the town, forth and back, makes you feel like a million dollars person, because you hiked it! Banff is different says the mayor, because it flushes 25000 toilets using the tax paid by 8000.
I truly enjoyed my 4 days of stay at the conference held by Advocis for the 59th time, in this place.
Looking forward to my return next year for the 60th ...

“Arts and Math in the Mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Had a fantastic time here as an artist and a mathematician...working on a joint project. This is what the Banff Centre is here for - to inspire creativity. Everything about it works. The setting is magnificent, the facilities (leisure and professional) exemplary and the choice of food and drink excellent. If you are an artist - get a residency here. If you are a mathematician, bring your group here.

“Good Conference Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Our union holds a conference here every summer and this is my 3rd time in attendance. The campus is very spread out and I still manage to get lost coming in for the first day, but once you get your bearings it's alright. Although there is a lot of walking, with hills and stairs.
Food is quite good for breaks and lunch. Our lunches always include homemade ice cream, which tends to run out, because everyone likes it so much! The hotel is also great about labelling food as dairy or gluten free, and offering options for these.
Rooms were generously sized in the Kinnear Building, with great views of the mountains. The Max Bell Building was great for having ample electrical outlets in the amphitheatre, although when we were there, I think they forgot that we were joining 3 groups into one, and diet pop and food ran out quickly at breaks.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

The Banff Centre is an International Centre for the Fine Arts. There is an excellent summer program of concerts and exhibitions that will appeal to everyone. It is an incredible experience to attend and a must for the Banff traveler.
