“Inn Town In The Woods”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Spent three nights here while on a mountain tour with a friend. The Inn is the first hotel you come to when entering the town on Banff Ave so extremely easy to find and get to. Being situated just around the corner and down the side street half a block and actually at the edge of the residential area is far enough off Banff Ave it's very quiet. The woods behind the Inn makes it feel like your not in town at all and handy If you have a dog.
The rooms a decent size and have a fride and microwave and coffee pot. The room has cement walls so very soundproof between rooms and not bad from the outaide but the room exhoed so the dog was a little barky about passerbyes and her bark sounded louder than it is... shes in training and will get better.. The room has two doors .. One to the outside and one to the courtyard patio area which is very nice. I had my coffee out there one morning and drinks one evening but the Mosquitos were a bit of a bother. A can of Repelent would have fixed that but didn't have any. Otherwise it was very nice and relaxing. There is a lot of space for a couple more tables which could be handy for eating or group gathering. There is one big table but even a couple smaller ones would be handy for some. We used two chairs with end table between which was perfect for relaxing. The only night we ate in was when it was raining so would not have needed a table to eat at anyway. For us the patio was good.
Water pressure in the shower was great.. Pipes banged when turning the sink on which bothered the dog but again she's in training. Rooms were clean even being pet friendly. The price was excellent for 2 beds and a dog. The hotel around the corner has a very good breakfast buffet. Also close to other restaurants on Banff Ave even being at the end like we were. Very handy .. All in all.. Definately recommend the hotel to friends and would stay again.

The Positives: adequately clean, roomy with a little more space than typical for a simple motel room, small deck overlooking the lovely main deck, a little away from the main busy area (a plus for us), friendly helpful staff, fridge & microwave in every room, a very lovely main deck open to all guests with gorgeous flowers, nice plus is a coat rack in addition to the typical clothes rod with hangers

The Negatives: no air conditioning, one window wouldn’t open and the window design prevents the breeze from entering the room to cool it off (but you can request a fan from the front desk), must walk outside quite a distance from some rooms to get to the ice machine – could be problem in winter but was fine in the summer, there is no table in the room – just a desk so eating in the room is not easy, the main deck had only one table so only one group could eat there – this is silly since there is plenty of room for at least 3 more tables (we had to race to get the table and only succeeded once)

Note: The parking lot in back abuts a wooded area. So you feel like you are truly in the woods and not in a town. Sometimes there are even elk grazing in those woods.

Overall, a reasonable option. I would stay here again.

Bumpers Inn was very clean and well maintained. It was very quiet on a Friday night with virtually no sounds from adjacent rooms or the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it as a very good value for your time in Banff.

I stayed at Bumpers Inn in May for an end of ski season trip to the mountains. I was traveling with my friend and her dog, so Bumpers was our choice because they accept pets.

It's old looking, but clean. Rooms are fairly spacious. There is a fridge in the room. Prices are lower than for other hotels, we paid less than $200 for two nights. One drawback is that it's at the far end of Banff Ave, and walking into the main part of Banff could take 20+ minutes.

If you're on a budget &/or have a dog, it's a reasonable price and a decent place to stay. No bells or whistles though!

Of note: the cleaning staff left the hotel room door into the courtyard unlocked after making up our room (there's a door to the outside and a door to an inner courtyard in each room)...lock up your valuables!

An amazing setting on the edge of the forest, with trees growing inside the hotel courtyard, which is a beautiful place to sit. This location does mean that it's on the edge of town and therefore a bit too far out to walk into town, but on the flip side it means it is tranquil. The rooms are spacious, with big TV, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There's no wireless access and no laundry, both of which we think would be a helpful addition.

Room Tip: The lower rooms have doors leading out onto the shared courtyard and the upper floor rooms have balc...

It's a little bit of a stroll into town but doable.

Nice but no frills. Quiet and clean and place to stay like any decent motel. Would easily choose Bumpers again if we travelled to Banff again.

Couple in late 20s approves!

If you are in Banff and want a friendly, super clean, quiet place to stay make sure to choose Bumpers. It is on the edge of town but only a 10 minutes walk to the main area. The rooms are super clean, wonderful beds (the best I have had in a motel). The TV, in our room, was super large and there was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The rooms open to an inner courtyard and I noticed many rooms have a balcony (ours did not).

The price was wonderful and the manager is so so friendly.
