“Easy access to downtown”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

This is one of the older accommodations in Banff, I believe. I've stayed there well over a dozen times in the past few years. It is great when you are heading to Banff with a large group and want reasonable beds for fairly cheap. There have been quite a few upgrades recently, and is a decent place, but if you're looking for a higher end feel, I would recommend staying at the Ptarmigan instead. One thing we found confusing (the first time we stayed) is that you check in at the Ptarmigan (parking lot kitty corner).

A good perk to staying here is that you have access to the hot tub/steam/sauna located in the basement of the Ptarmigan.

It's hit and miss with the other clientele. Because it's a cheaper place to stay, there seem to often be groups staying here that like to party well into the night.

This year we rented a one bedroom. A few upgrades have been done such as new carpet and some new furniture and the place was clean. We did have a problem this year being that the apartment upstairs was rented long term to some young people working in Banff. Well, it was party central up there! We were awakened in the middle of the night on our first night by MAJOR partying noise. We called the front desk - two times that night. The next night it was more of "almost" the same... a tiny bit quieter - we still had to call the front desk. The third night ...again, but it quietened down about 30 minutes after we called the front desk. Scott at the front desk was wonderful and we were compensated for our inconvenience! If you are wanting to stay at Rundle Manor I would just suggest you request to stay in the building with no long term rentals. Location to walk uptown is wonderful and we will stay here again.

Room Tip: As I said in my review - ask to stay in the building with no long term tenants and your chance of a...

As we were travelling as a family, we liked the idea of having a kitchen and making our own meals. The supermarket is just down the road, and Rundle Manor is close to the shops and laundromat in the town of Banff. The apartment is spacious and clean. It looks like it was built some time ago and must be popular in winter. We had a room in the middle of the apartment block, and could hear the people moving about upstairs and talking. We asked to have a room on the top floor and the staff were very helpful in organizing that for us. The price was reasonable, and the reception staff were very helpful. Parking is included and onsite, and in the open.

Room Tip: Try the top Floor to eliminate the noise of people walking around and moving furniture in the apartm...

The Rundle Apartments offer accomodation which looks like a bedsit. However, although the whole place could do woith a splash of TLC, the bed was LOVELY and the bathroom very good. Not sure it was worth the $145 a night (plus tax), but the location was good and everyone else is charging the same, if not more!
And the laundorama is just down the road ($4 for a medium wash and $0.25 for 3 mins dry).

Avoid Sat night if you can, as it gets noisy in Banff

we had a below ground apartment which was really spacious and had a great kitchenette. The apartment was really close to centre of town (less then 3 mins walk) so a great location. we stayed for a week and had a great time - the apartment block did get a little rowdy at the weekend but wasn't a massive problem for us. Check in at the hotel down the street - staff very friendly.

You get what you pay for with these simple apartments but the space in these are amazing.
Everything was clean on our arrival and we were able to check in early. The room smelt a little like smoke but opening the window fixed that quickly, this wasn't much of a concern as was never in the room. Location is amazing. Central on Banff Ave. would stay here again.

In Banff, the hotel rooms are $300+ for one room. We needed 2 beds in two separate rooms, so from that perspective, we were way ahead. ($200 per night versus $600). Plus we got a kitchen to save bucks on breakfast. The decor is dated, and student grade, but it's not awful. I would say it's basic, decent, and clean. The location is fantastic, half a block from Banff ave and walking distance to all stores and restaurants. The internet is slow. It is a wood frame building, so you can hear your neighbours upstairs walking around, or between walls. We were lucky everyone in the building went to bed around 10, and woke up early when we stayed there. Lots of families when we were there. (Sept long weekend).
And you can use the facilities at the Ptarmigan.
If you want to save money, go for it. It's not scary, just basic!

Room Tip: If you can get the top floor, it will help with any foot noise.
