“Clean & Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

View of the mountains from room. Clean, comfortable room. Good drapes that kept the light out at night. Breakfast was good in the dining room. Pool was very nice - lots of towels and chairs. City bus stops right outside park beside hotel.

After reading lots of reviews before booking our king jacuzzi suite for a 5 night stay, I didn't have high expectations due to some negative reviews and didn't know really what to expect.
After arriving form a 2 day train ride on the rocky mountaineer we were quite tired and pleased with the check in process. The front desk staff was friendly and served us with a smile.
We were given a room on the third floor looking towards the mountain. Admittedly the window overlooked the back of the property where there was a dump bin directly below our window but this was no problem as if you looked straight across you have great views of the mountain.
My first impression was the hotel looks a bit dated, but by the end of our stay i felt it added to the charm of the lodge experience.

Our room had a king size bed, jacuzzi bath, fireplace and plenty of room to move around.
The air conditioning was a bit noisy but was welcomed as the days and night were reasonably warm. The wifi was good to have bit proved painfully slow on some mornings and afternoons.
For international visitors, the calling rates were amazing (Australia was 12c a minute!)

My birthday fell on one of the nights of our stay and with some sneaky arrangements from my wife and hotel staff they organised to deliver some cake, chocolates and champagne to our room whilst we were on our day trip. This was a nice surprise upon the return to our room in the afternoon.

The underground car park was great to have on the days it was raining. With 2 lifts from the basement car park we could easily get to our floor and room without getting wet and needing to go through the lobby.

The hotel itself is about 1km from the town centre and is an easy walk to and from.

Overall, the hotel was a great base for our 5 night stay in Banff with day trips to Lake Louise, Calgary, Fields, Golden and many of the areas amazing lakes.

The staff were always accommodating and added to our stay at the Rundlestone lodge.
We would not have any hesitation about staying here again.

To the Rundlestone Lodge staff and management, Thank you.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor jacuzzi suite/s has vaulted ceilings which adds to the feeling of space.

The great news about Banff is that it is such a compact town, there really isn't a place that's too far away. Thus, we chose the Rundlestone, even if it is on the edge of town. The price we paid was extremely competitive for Banff, The staff was incredible - very friendly and helpful (everyone we interacted with.) The facilities are immaculate including the room. They do a great job keeping things clean. Lots of room within the room. Hallways were quiet. In room refrigerator and safe - both which come in extremely handy. We went to the pool 3 of the four days we were there, and always had it to ourselves. I think the pool liner was brand new based on the condition. Rooms are air conditioned for the days you need it. They have an onsite restaurant, but we never tried it. They also have an underground parking lot - be warned the spaces can be very tight...we had a larger rental and it was tough to maneuver around. Thus, during the day we would find local street parking as opposed to using the garage. The only real nit I have to pick is that our curtains were falling down, so they wouldn't close properly...we mentioned this to the front desk, but they never did get fixed. Not enough of an issue to change a very high recommendation

We've been going to Banff since 1998 and had not stayed anywhere else but Rundletone. The location is perfect for us, far away enough from the bustle of downtown and close enough for us to walk to restaurants and shops. We preferred the specialty rooms to the standard rooms simply because of their location in the hotel itself. Although the rooms show some wear over the past 16 years, their comfort remained the same. The friendly staff all seemed to genuinely happy to be working there and serving guests.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors or specialty rooms (with a loft) tend to be quieter. Standard rooms are u...

We stayed at the Rundlestone Lodge with friends that had come from Pennsylvania to see some of western Canada on our recommendation. We were told that floors 1 and 2 had been renovated so we made sure we were booked in floor 2. Our friends had reserved months ago and asked for a mountain view. The renovated room had a large water stain on the ceiling from a leak above, the "new" bed creaked like it was going to fall apart. The A/C would wake the dead and the new wallpaper was hung over patches that were not sanded. The mountain view room had no view. No offence to Super 8 but it was a Super 8 room at a Hilton price($278) with taxes.
The hotel bar was alright and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was average at best.
Overall it was very disappointing and not a good representation for our US visitors to take home.

Room Tip: Floors 1 and 2 have apparently been renovated. There are inside and outside rooms. Some inside have...

Thank you for your feedback and we are very sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.

We have replaced the ceiling tile in the room and have also investigated the condition of the bed and the noise from the air conditioning unit. As one of the very few hotels in Banff with air conditioning in the rooms we do hope yours was at least a comfortable temperature during your stay.

Regarding the request for a mountain view I am sorry we were unable to provide one on this occasion. As we usually explain when taking telephone reservations mountain views cannot be guaranteed with our standard rooms, and with so many visitors understandably requesting views, unfortunately we cannot meet all requests. Many of our luxury suites do guarantee mountain views, however, and so we would recommend considering one of these if a view of the Rocky Mountains is a must for any guest.

This is what you would call a true time tested review. We were in Banff for a birthday July/2/2014.
Our family has literally been coming to this hotel since they opened the doors. Stayed in room 412 and everything was perfect as usual. They just know how to get reservations right, this is so important if your travelling with the family. One of the reasons we come to Banff is for Alberta Beef. Bumpers is the Banff specialists for prime rib. Been coming into Banff since 1977 for dinner at Bumpers. You can imagine our surprise and delight finding Bumpers has moved into Rundlestone Lodge. Two of our favorite things Rundlestone Lodge and Bumper's Beef House together . Winning x 2

Room Tip: Be specific about ages in your group if not asked. when travelling with the family. If your kid is...

Banff can be tricky with hotels, but this is a sure bet. Didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looks nice. A little bit of a walk to downtown Banff. Nice modern room. No complaints. Staff accommodated an early check in for us. Would staff here again. Good tip is that they will match discounts from third parties. Just give them a call.
