“Overall a very good hotel”

Perhaps not the most impressive from outside, but a great hotel overall.
It is situated on Banff Avenue and is a nice easy walk down into the town.
We stayed a couple of nights using it as a base for Banff/Colubia and Jasper National Parks and in that respect could not have been better.
Extremely clean and great room and staff very very helpful, even when I rang reception at 4am, (how can they be so helpful at that time?), re our early start.
Great fire in the lounge making a great lodge atmosphere, while drinking.
We found breakfast good, although we did eat other meals out during the day .
Would easily recommend.

“Great place”

Rundlestone lodge is awesome! Its the perfect location -right on Banff
avenue. Check-in is quick and painless. The staff are really nice - mainly from Australia but also from different parts of the world. One of the best things about this place is that every room has a dvd player in it. After a tiring day of touring Banff, its great to be able to get into your room and watch a dvd. You can borrow a dvd from the reception area. The only downside is the food in Jack Pine Bistro
- the lodge's only restaurant. Its very average. We had breakfast included in our price but the price only included the continental breakfast. We ended up paying about $6 for the upgrade to the hot breakfast. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and the food was not very good. Just bland really. I would definitely reccomend this place though - its clean, friendly and convenient and a reasonable price for what you get. Just remember its a lodge, not a hotel which is perfect for a place like Banff. I would definitely go back to Rundlestone.

“Expensive for what you get”

I stayed for 3 nights in September. Despite being charged over $200 and booking well in advance, I was given a terrible room on the ground floor. When I asked to move I was told it would cost another ~$130 a night...because they had a coach party in.
I would describe the room as clean, functional and very plain - really like a lower class business hotel
I did not use the restaurant/Bar facility so cannot comment on that.
I asked about the gym, to be informed that this was pretty much just a treadmill - and this was broken. I didn't bother with the pool, so cannot comment.
Location is on the main road, and ~15 minute walk to the centre. not a problem, unless you have mobility problems.
If I ever go back to Banff, I will definitely not stay again. As a single traveller - on a budget, I'd rather stay at a hostel or a (more personal) B&B. I booked this hotel, as a treat for my birthday and was very disappointed, the price is too high for a room that is basically used for washing and sleeping.

This was the first stop on our Honeymoon in early august. Was worried about the reservations through Expedia, but the front desk was ready. I choose this hotel with help of this site. I would have love to spend the $$ for the Fairmont, but I figured I could get more for my dollar here. We stayed for 4 nights in the king suite. Worth every dollar as far as I'm concerned. Tons of room to stretch out, huge king size bed in the loft. The bathrooms were roomy and I liked the tile and marble. The kichenette produced great breakfasts for our "late" or "lazy" mornings. The balcony faced the street and had a nice view of the mountain (sorry, a mountain). Honestly, I would suggest this to anyone who isn't into spending a ton of money for the Fairmont or Rimrock. I did take some nice pics of those places, hah!

“Good Standard Hotel”

Rundlestone Lodge

Oct 23, 2007

We arrived at the Rundlestone Lodge expecting something spectacular (thanks to their website!), and whilst we weren't exactly disappointed, we weren't bowled over with excitement either!

The staff were friendly and efficient, though after spending a lot of time in Canada's excellent B&B's it was extremely noticeable how unwilling the hotel staff were to "go the extra mile". I guess we were spoilt by the consistent excellence of the B&B hosts!

The room was large, clean and reasonably modern, although an update would be welcome. The pool and jacuzzi were very nice, although if there had been more than the 2 other people that were in there when we went in, it might have felt a bit crowded!

The restaurant was excellent, and very good value for money, especially considering Banff's generally inflated prices.

The room price would have been quite high if we had not booked a special deal which included a trip on the Banff Gondola for 2 people in the price of the room - this deal I felt was good value for money, but if I'd just paid the standard price then we would have felt slightly out of pocket.

Overall, I was left feeling satisfied, but not overly impressed
