“Nice scenic drive or walk.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

Vermillion Lakes are great for those with or without transportation. There is a good chance of spotting some elk and deer. If you keep your eyes open you might be lucky enough to spot a bald eagle or osprey!

“Great Scenic Lakes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

Vermilion Lakes are found just outside the town of Banff, Alberta in Western Canada. The Lakes can be found easily when exiting Banff by following the signposts.

The Lakes themselves offer a great scenic view of the surrounding mountains as well as the local wildlife. When I visited the lakes there was a female deer at the distant end of the lake, there was also a number of Canadian Loons swimming as well as Wood toads in the marshes. Although this isn't the greatest activity in Banff it is a great place to visit if you are interested in seeing the local Wildlife

“My Favourite Banff Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Nothing like Vermilion Lakes for going for a morning walk when in Banff. The best spot to see Mt Rundle.

“Calm and quiet environment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I am glad that this combination wetland and forest area was saved from development as it provides a closer-to-nature park for Banff and a habitat for wildlife closer to the town. I particularly enjoyed an early morning trail run along the Fenlands route, an easy hike for most.

“Great for photographers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

It's quick to get to from town and there's some great evening views from which to snap an award winning shot of Mount Rundle! I would suggest that earlier in the year would be better as the water levels would be higher after the spring thaw. When we were there after a dry summer there were lot's of dry muddy areas.
