“The essence of comfort.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2009

We stayed for two weeks in a very pleasent room adjacent to our friends, having emailed the hotel earlier as we were on a package holiday, asking if we could have two rooms together, all of the staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. The pizzas were good value, the fish and chips excellent, breakfast wasn't included in our package so we found it expensive for what it was. Our room was cleaned every day, new sheets on the bed every three days, the room sparkled with polish and we were more than happy to flop down on the comfy bed after a hard day on the ski slopes. The ski bus stopped right outside the door yet another plus.
Didn't use the pool as it was overlooked by everyone passing through reception. We would definately stay here again, saving up for our next trip.

We stayed at the Banff Inn for our skiing trip, ideal for the bus to take you to the skiing resort as it stops directly outside the hotel.

the food in the hotel was really good especially the pizza, we were on a bed and breakfast basis and the found the continental breakfast more than adequate. There was a choice of bagels, muffins, bread, cereals, crumpets, coffee, tea, juices

Other reviews state that you can't take 'ski equipment' to your room, by 'ski equipment' this means boards and skis, you can take your boots to your room and there is a lock up area for the skis for a small deposit of $5 (which is returned to you when you return your key).

The only complaint I would have is that the air in the room was very dry, might sound strange but when you woke up through night your mouth and nose were dried out and it was very uncomfortable (this was with the heater/air con switched off so that couldn't be blamed).

Didn't use the hot tub as it was in the reception/bar area and people could see right in.

Overall we had a good stay at the Banff Inn.

We stayed in the Banff Inn whilst on a skiing holiday in Feb 2009. The hotel was basic but clean and convenient. We were on a Room Only rate so we didn't try the continental breakfast, we went to the Caribou, two doors down from the Banff Inn as they served breakfast off an a la carte menu that seemed better value for money. One thing that was quite noticeable was the aircon. Through the night it clicked on and off and it was quite noisy - luckily we were exhausted after a hard day of skiing so it wasn't that much of a problem.

After having booked the hotel, I saw some of the negative comments on here and must admit feeling a little nervous on arrival. However our stay could not have been more different, we throughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip included the hotel.

The hotel staff are amazingly helpful, nothing is too much, both the food and service in the bar are fantastic and the location is perfect. Yes it is a 10 min walk into banff cantre but the ski bus stops right outside the hotel, perfect as i would much rather walk in comfy shoes than ski boots! and if you really dont want to walk there is a shuttle bus every 30mins through Banff.

The hotel does have its querks (such as removing ski equipment from luggage in reception as under no circumstance can this go to the room!) and we thought breakfast was a bit overpriced but overall it was a fantastic hotel.

The only negative is the noisy heaters in the rooms, we found we had to turn this off through the night, then pull straws on who hoped out of bed and turned it on in the morning, which would be fine in the summer but as we had lows of -30 it was chilly at times.

I would love to visit the hotel again should i find myself in Banff.

  • Liked — The welcoming friendly staff, and the top quality food and service in the bar. And that ski bus stop being right outside the front door.
  • Disliked — Noisey heaters in the rooms, showers could be more powerful.

My husband and I honeymooned at the Banff Inn and loved it. The location was good - 10-15 min walk into town and next to the Fox hotel which had a great bar attached (Chillies) where the food and drink were great.

The town centre is expensive but then it is a tourist hotspot.

The ladies on reception were always friendly and helpful, the cleaning staff were very efficient and the coffee they left each time was fab! The hotel was clean in general.

The bar was nice but often quiet and a bit pricey. The sauna and hot tub were just what we needed after lots of walking.

The breakfasts were good - same everyday but good none the less.

I would definitely recommend this hotel - oh and the views were wonderful too!

Well,

Here I am in the room now trying to watch the fuzzy TV which has no volume on a number of channels (I don't know why).

I can't sleep because the AC unit in the room is soo loud that it sounds like there in a clothes dryer in the room with me that turns on every half hour.

So I figured I would surf the net but thre free wireless internet is soooo slow I can't really do that either.

I would never stay here again.

P.S.

The beds suck too.
