My wife and I stayed at this allocated hotel for two nights (mid June 08) as part of Jonview's fly drive package tour of Canada.
Well what can I say? It is excellent to start with !!
All the staff are friendly and really helpful.
We had a standard room which faced into an inner courtyard (the superior rooms all have exterior facing views). The room was a good size, clean, with two comfy queen beds and was very pleasantly decorated. Above all, because of the layout of the rooms there was no disturbance or noise from adjoining rooms.
We had both our evening meals and breakfasts at The Keg Restaurant, within the hotel. All meals were excellent and reasonably priced. We made reservations for both evenings (Friday and Saturday) and the restaurant was really busy but there were ample staff on hand to deal with it. The breakfast is either buffet or cooked from the menu.
The Spa pool is large (bigger than some swimming pools I’ve been in) but unfortunately the jets were not working on our second visit. There is a good steam room as well. The changing facilities were good.
The hotel is situated just far enough away from the centre of Banff to avoid the hustle and bustle. There is a good, large underground carpark.
If we ever visit Banff again we will stay in this hotel.
The boat trip on Lake Minnewanka is well worth doing.
As we knew from previous experience the centre of Banff was a little on the expensive side, and as we were subsequently told, is known locally as: BANFF - Be Aware Nothing For Free.
