“Top Notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Arrived at the destination a bit early and were able to check in early after some slight back and forth. We were able to change cabins to the ones that overlook the beginning of the Johnson Canyon trail. Awesome sound of the river beneath us. The cabins themselves are very nice. The exteriors show some wear from the elements, but what else would you expect. There was a nice porch on the one we stayed at with 2 Adirondack chairs and a small table. The interior of the cabin was VERY spacious, we stayed at a 2 person classic which is "one room unit that features a queen bed, wood burning fireplace and gas burning fireplace, vintage slipper claw foot tub, shower, hardwood floors and front porch", as well as a hide-a-bed. The bathroom was amazing with separate shower and tub. Superb soaker tub after hiking the trails. The common area was a nice place to lounge. The bed was extremely comfortable. A fridge as well.
Located between Banff and Lake Louise- a bit closer to Banff.
The food in the restaurant shop was good as well and reasonably priced.
We have nothing negative to say about this place.
Would definitely stay here again!

This resort is a great place to get away for a weekend, relaxing, quiet etc. The cabins are so cute, and this is a definite upgrade from camping. Nice shampoo/conditioner/soap/towels in bathroom. Be warned, no TV! They have TVs with old-time VHS players built in and you can "rent" VHS movies from the café but no TV reception at all. Also, there are really no activity items for sale in the shop (no packs of cards or crib boards etc) so bring your own. And I did find it odd that they didn't have an evening bon fire set up like the place down the road at Castle Mountain chalets - that would be an awesome addition to this place. It was a nice enough place, good for a time-out from the every day. They are REALLY strict about check in being at 4pm though - if you arrive early, they basically tell you to leave and come back at 4pm. We were there at 3:40pm and were told to "come back" - not in a mean way, but I did think it odd that they couldn't just let us go to the cabin - we drove up to the cabin just to find it while we killed time until 4pm and it had already been serviced and was empty/vacant for us, so I could not figure out why they wouldn't let us just check in? Found that kind of weird. They allow dogs, which is great for us.

Room Tip: Hard to tell, really depends on what you want. We were in a fireplace cabin which was nice - it had...

We recently stayed in a standard cottage for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surrounds. The bed was comfortable and the facilities had everything we needed. The only downfall of the place was the amount of mosquitoes around at all times of the day and so that made it challenging to enjoy the front porch.

The restaurant has 2 options - one more casual dining and a more formal restaurant. I would recommend checking both menus as they serve some similar (if not the same) dishes that are cheaper in the cafe if you are happy with that. The service was friendly and there were no problems at all checking in and out.

The best aspect of this place is the location. It is right next to Johnston Canyon with a beautiful walk to the waterfalls and on the Bow Valley Parkway which made for some great wildlife spotting. It was nice to not be right in the thick of the tourist traps but still have accessibility to everything you wanted.

My husband and I booked 2 cottages for 2 people and one 4 person bungalow for 4 people for 4 nights In mid May 2104 for the August long weekend. I got a confirmation e-mail, however the reservation for the 4 person bungalow was only made for 3 nights instead of 3. Our 4 person party had to move for the last night, which meant that our family no longer had a kitchen or a place to gather. The resort did not charge for the last night for the party of 4, but we had to go to the dining room for breakfast the last morning, and had to pay for cold " hot" breakfasts.. I had also been told that getting extra dishes for the additional 4 people would not be a problem, however when we asked we were told they did not have any, so we had to go to Banff to buy paper plates and plastic utensils. The cottages were dusty and had cobwebs. We had a mouse in one of our cabins. We did not find that we got what we paid for.

Very nice cabins. We rented three cabins over the August long weekend. All cabins were nice. The resort area was very quiet and peaceful. Our extended family of 9 people plus one dog had a wonderful time. The kitchen was very nice with just about everything we needed to make large meals. The BBQ area is provided at no charge to guests and the BBQs have a natural gas line so you never run out of propane. While the cabins were nice and we would go back again, the floors were very dirty. They were in the process of changing out the beds and replacing the mattresses with very comfortable pillow tops. Very comfortable!

It was awesome. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Banff. We were there during one of the largest floods ever. And me and my friend decided to leave so we could make it home. They didn't charge us for the extra day. ABSOLUTELY amazing. Very kind. Told us to call them of we couldn't make it out and they'd give us the cabin back. I was absolutely floored by the staff. Kind and very helpful. Room ways always cleaned. Food was awesome. Trails... Well beautiful of course. Close to Banff. I will always stay there when I decide to visit Banff. Hands down amazing! Recommended to everyone I know!

We have a lovely stay at this resort. The location is wonderful. It's great to beat the crowds for the hike.
Only issues are it's a tad far from banff itself and that the cabin had no AC so the cabin was extremely hot and uncomfortable at night.
Great staff! Very friendly.
Also great place when you have a pet.
