We have been staying here for almost a week. Leaving soon. We are up on Tunnel mountain and a little ways from other hotels on the mountain so it feels a little secluded which is what I wanted. It is my husband and I and our 11 year old son. We seemed to have come at a good time as it was busy to begin with but we were able to find parking and it has been pretty quiet in regards to noise.
Unit: Deluxe 1 bedroom and loft (3qns) Although not a new property it suites our needs quite well. The unit could use some updating in the smaller kitchen (can't tell if oven is on bake or broil and can't tell what temp you have the elements on as there are no markings on the knobs). dishwasher just washes adequately but fridge does its job. Could use some storage space for dry goods as there are only only a few cupboards and they are all used with pots, plates, cups etc. There are 1.5 bathrooms which was good for the 3 of us. Beds are extremely comfortable. Unfortunately the sofabed was broken but we didn't need it to sleep on and maintenance is aware to have it fixed after we check out. The unit had a view of Mt. Norquay, Cascade Mountain and I could see a little of downtown Banff so enjoyed the view. Have seen mule deer bucks a few times while here just going out onto our balcony.
Front Desk: Staff at the front desk are awesome. They are always attentive to your needs or requests and very polite. I had the pleasure of talking with Laraine a few times and she is really sweet and helped with several requests.
Maintenance: Maintenance staff have been quick to respond to the few concerns we had and always tried their best to solve the small issues. Sofabed being broken was one but unfortunately could not be repaired while we were here as there is a piece of bar broken off and they have to wait for more of the parts to come in but they arrived quickly. While they were here they replaced a bulb in the half bath since it was dying out. We also had an issue with the tv in the loft not working when we arrived and again they were quick to show up. They replaced the cable wire and we were good to go. Had an issue with the fireplace the first time we used it with smoke coming into the unit instead of going up and out the chimney and again maintenance was quick to come and tried to sort it out to no avail. they talked to front staff and was able to move us to another unit if he was able to get the fire going there but again the same issue so we stayed put. After that day we were able to get the fire going but for some reason the wood doesn't burn properly.
Housekeeping: This is why I marked only 4 for rating. First day they did a clean they left a piece of latex glove upstairs in the loft on the floor. I had then requested to the front desk to only have housekeeping come on our on certain days to do a full clean and they came the very next day at 9am. I know the front desk put the request in as I watched her type it in.
Overall though I would definitely come again. The price for the unit was extremely reasonable at the time. It had the space we wanted and allowed the 3 of us to sleep comfortably by each having our own bed. Also you can't go wrong with 3 tvs in the unit. The few staff we saw were extremely friendly and helpful. It feels secluded and can have lovely views! Also you get a coupon book and get a roam pass for your stay (we thought we would use but ended up doing some of the driving when we weren't on a tour). It is close to town but not right in the bustle.
Oh and a con which can't be helped anywhere in Banff is you can hear the train horns at night. We have heard them at 1:30 in the morning but we are not close to the railway. It is because being in a valley the horns echo.
