“Little Piece of Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We stayed at Hidden Ridge for 5 days. It is a nice little place hidden away in the mountain, but within 20min walking distance from the town.
The 1st 3 nights we stayed with friends in a 3 bed cabin. It was lovely, however, only 2 out of the 3 rooms we made up daily. We also needed to get extra towels as there were not enough for all 6 of us.
On the Sunday, our friends left and we were moving to a smaller cabin. As our cabin was not ready yet, we were given a slightly bigger one which was great. On arrival the tap in the bathroom did not work. Reception had the handyman over in a flash and for those of us from the EU, the tap needed to be pulled out, not just turned.
We were able to borrow DVDs from reception at no cost and had food delivered from one of the restaurants in town which got delivered straight to our door and we were able to charge it to our room.
The view from the hot tub is also amazing.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and no request is to big. It is not 5 start, but I would def go back.

Room Tip: Try to get a cabin close to reception if you go in winter. Makes to walk to and from the hot tub a b...

Thank you for the review. The title "Little Piece of Heaven" is excellent! We're happy you enjoyed your stay and we were able to showcase not only one but two room types to you while you were here. We've decided to replace all the faucets in many of our rooms. Hopefully this will prevent any future issues with them. And, we've just bought 12 new releases that will soon be added to our DVD collection for your next stay!

“Not a top rated resort”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

I initially booked this resort based on the reviews and guest rating on Trip Advisor. I typically like to stay at places that are rated high by guests which the Hidden Ridge Resort is, but in my case I felt that our stay fell far short of my expectations.
I booked a one queen bed condo for a week at Hidden Ridge. What isn't apparent by the reviews nor the hotel's website is that all delux queen condos are on the bottom floors of the lodges with larger loft condos above them. I booked a room with one queen bed because it was just me and my husband and we planned to be out skiing most of the time. I did not think the amount of noise would be THAT bad. However, being in the basement with a family with kids staying above you was horrendous. You hear every step, door slam, loud tv and kids screaming. My husband and I did not sleep the first 2 nights.
We checked into the resort on a Friday night and what people failed to mention in their reviews is that the resort turns into a giant fraternity party during the weekends in the winter. There were young, drunk co-eds running and screaming about. There was even a fight at 2:30 am one night that went on for at least a half hour before anyone did anything about it. It was clear that because of the condo-like setting, young college aged kids from Calgary come to the resort and cram as many people as they can fit into the rooms. This is evident by the lack of parking at the resort as well.
The hotel staff assured us that come Sunday night the resort would clear out and would become quiet. They were right about that. By time we had come back from skiing the resort was nearly empty.
However, given the fact that nearly most of the resort was vacant, it did not stop hotel staff from putting a family of 6 in the condo above us Sunday night. My husband and I are laid back people, but given the fact that we hadn't slept since checking into the resort because of the noise level, we were maxed out. My husband called the front desk and spoke with David about the noise levels coming from the condo above us. David is what makes this place a top rated resort. Without question, David upgraded us for free to a large loft condo immediately and apologized for placing a family of 6 in the condo above ours. We were so happy and so grateful to David for the upgrade. We finally were able to sleep and enjoy ourselves.
The larger condo was really nice and perhaps worth spending the extra money on for the space and peace.
The pros:
There are 2 underground parking garages that are heated. They are small so parking a big truck was a little tricky.
The staff were very nice and aimed to please
The resort is in a great location and you can walk into town
There is a lot of wildlife around the resort but be careful if you have small kids and dogs. We came into contact with many coyotes.

The cons:
It turns into a giant college party with a lot of noise on the weekends
The hot tub is usually packed with people and to compensate they dump too much chlorine into it.
The bottom level condos have terrible sound issues.
The condos do not get cleaned daily.
I think the resort is over priced for what you get.

“Better than the Banff Springs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

This was our third trip to Banff - having stayed at the Banff Springs on the two previous occasions, Hidden Ridge had a fair amount to live up to, and it really delivered. We had a two bed+loft condo, which was ideal with two teenagers to accommodate. The apartment was spacious and well-equipped, and the on site facilities were excellent - being able to borrow games and DVDs from the front desk was welcome; it is only a short walk from a convenience store for essential supplies; and the outdoor hot pool is a wonderful treat at the end of a day's skiing, with spectacular views. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were friendly and very efficient.
The location is a little way out of the town centre, but the resort provides free bus passes for guests - the bus stop was almost directly outside our front door, and the service is very reliable. Just be careful to ensure you time your journey back carefully, as the service only runs every 40 minutes - if you miss one, it's a either a bit of a trek back to the resort or a long (and in February, very cold) wait at the bus stop for the next one.
If we decide to come back to Banff for a fourth time, we will be checking in at the Hidden Ridge rather than the Banff Springs - thank you!

“Would stay here again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

Very nice place to stay. On edge of town in a wooded area. Staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Lodging is what you would expect in a ski town. Rustic but clean and comfortable, with comfortable beds including sofa sleeper. 2 huge hot tubs with great scenic view

“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013 via mobile

We rented a lower level one bedroom condo. Not the most flashy place to stay in Banff but we are not too picky on aesthetics as long as its clean and comfortable, which it was. The staff were friendly and we really enjoyed and appreciated the extra touches like free firewood, kindle and a bus pass with a bus stop nearby. The view was amazing with the surrounding mountains. It was great to be out the main streets because we were visited by deer and elk every morning by our back patio. The hot tub has got to have one of the best views around. The only downside was that we could hear every footstep upstairs. They weren't trying to be loud but you can hear everything. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend this resort.
