“Cozy place in great location”

Blue Mountain Lodge

Groningen, Netherlands
Apr 25, 2007

We stayed at the Blue Mountain Lodge in September 2004 and had a really great time. We didn't have any trouble with bed bugs nor did we experience any other hygiene problems.
True the room was very small and the bathroom a bit like a store cupboard. But If you read their website carefully, you will see, that they mention this fact on their site. So we were warned and had a very cozy experience in this place. Also we didn't spend much time in our room anyway, because it is the outdoors we were coming for.
It is also true, that the breakfast room isn't very big. So if you prefer more privacy, choose another place to stay. But we actually enjoyed sharing our table with fellow travellers, exchanging tips and stories with eachother.
Last but not least, the lodge has a great location in walking distance of Banff Avenue and still in a pretty quiet neighbourhood. I would definitely stay there again.

“Bed Bugs!!! In Three Rooms”

Blue Mountain Lodge

I was moved into a room with bed bugs, not just in the one room, I later found out there was three rooms with a bed bug infestation. Aparrently due to the lack of cleanliness in the rooms the infestation occurs every 2 months or so. If you are considering staying here, DONT!!!!!!

“convenient B&B”

We stayed for 2 nights in late August. The location is fantastic: a couple of blocks away from Banff's main downtown street, and a block away from a great pizza place.

The owners were very friendly, but it was hard to escape the feeling that this was a business, not a home into which you were being made welcome. The room was comfortable enough, but nothing special (the bathroom reminded me a little of the cabins in Yosemite); the breakfast ok (help-yourself to as much toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, juice ... as you liked).

On the other hand, the reason to go is the park, not the place you stay.

Summary: a convenient, reasonably comfortable base for exploring. Recommended - but not hugely enthusiastically

“Would not recommend”

Blue Mountain Lodge

The owner was very pleasant, but the rooms were very cramped and the carpet in our room was actually dirty. The self-service breakfast included getting your own crockery and cutlery.

We left earlier than planned.

“We really enjoyed our stay!”

Blue Mountain Lodge

We had a great time at this B&B. The breakfast was fantastic. We came down around 9am each day and were delighted with the variety... fruit baskets, muffins, bagels, warm croissants, hard boiled eggs, cereal and more. I loved the fact that there were always fresh cookies and coffee when we got back after our daily bike rides.

The location is fantastic - a block away from shopping and pubs!

The rooms were pretty tiny, but the price was fair for Banff - we didin't spend much time hanging out in them anyway (to much to see!) The washrooms were fine, shower and a toilet - and very clean.

We had a great time and would certainly come again!
