“We really enjoyed our stay!”

Blue Mountain Lodge

We had a great time at this B&B. The breakfast was fantastic. We came down around 9am each day and were delighted with the variety... fruit baskets, muffins, bagels, warm croissants, hard boiled eggs, cereal and more. I loved the fact that there were always fresh cookies and coffee when we got back after our daily bike rides.

The location is fantastic - a block away from shopping and pubs!

The rooms were pretty tiny, but the price was fair for Banff - we didin't spend much time hanging out in them anyway (to much to see!) The washrooms were fine, shower and a toilet - and very clean.

We had a great time and would certainly come again!

“Worst B & B ever”

Blue Mountain Lodge

This B & B is in a good location really close to the town but that's all I can say in its favour. The rooms are really small and dingy with the bed pushed up against the wall. Bathrooms are so small you have to shuffle round. The breakfast is DIY with only 12 places to sit but 10 rooms so a potential of 20+ people. It gets very overcrowded unless you're up at 6am! Top rates charged for low rate accommodation.

“Great theme rooms”

Great place to stay right in the centre of town. Reasonable price and great management they made the stay a joy. Great lounge and self serve food. Banff is spectacular place to visit. We stayed in a theme room and the furnishings were interesting and some great collectables.

I recommend.

I found the Lodge to be great value for nice, clean rooms, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and good food - I would definitely come back as the location is perfect.

It's cheap and centrally located, but has little else to offer. The rooms are tiny & cramped - they obviously built walls to cram in as many extra rooms as they could. There's no sitting room with comfortable chairs like most B&Bs have; you can sit in the breakfast room on benches, or on your bed (ours was under the eaves so we couldn't even do that). We were in the attic and the room was very hot. The breakfast is self-serve and basic - cereal, toast, some fruit. We stayed one night and moved to another place even though we had paid for more.

Also, when we were there, they advertised free Internet service, but the owner said they didn't have it and denied that it said so on the Web site!

In looking at this review one would think this guest stayed in March 2006. NOT SO!! This guest stayed in 2003. We have historical information on our Lodge along with photos in our guest lounge. The Lodge was built in 1908 originally as a rooming house, so it is much like a small hotel with the rooms all coming off the main staircase. It has been a Banff Landmark for many years. Needless to say private bathrooms were not as important then as they are now, so the Lodge went from shared bathrooms to all ensuite bathrooms with shower toilet and sink in each room. We lost space in the rooms in the process, and so we make a point on our website to let people know our rooms are smaller for this reason.
We serve the same breakfast now that we did in 2003, which includes hot and cold cereals, a basket of fresh fruit, muffins, freshly baked croissants, hard boiled eggs, juices, yogurt, breads and bagels, and cream cheeses.
During 2004 and 2005 we have done extensive renovations that include creating unique and authentic Canadian theme rooms.
