“room too small for the price”

The girls who work there are nice, but the place itself does not accord with the writeup. Our room is tiny and one could barely fit into the shower stall - we are quite small girls to begin with! Would not stay there again for th

The welcome by all the staff is excellent and very friendly. The boss knows very well the region and gives excellent advice on all actifiviés it is possible to do. We had problems with our rental car and he came with us to the agency for help.
Thank you for everything and we look forward to returning.

The place is nice and quiet. The rooms are quite small, but clean and decent.
The service is very good, the hosts are very friendly. Breakfasts are not the strongest thing in this hotel, but still ok: fresh coissants, which are really good, apples, boiled eggs, yogurt, toasts, jam, 2 % milk, cereals, tea and coffee. Not a wide selection of food but still you can find something to eat.
Location is a real advantage of this place - just in 3 minutes of walk from the center, but quiet, easy to reach everything.
Parking lot: not enough room for all guests, but we parked easily near the hotel.
On the whole I recommend this place to travellers who are not very fastidious about their food and size of their rooms.

First of all, the most outstanding feature is the helpfulness and kindness of the staff! Thank you for giving good advice on where to go for a scenic drive or walk.
As far as the room and breakfast service is concerned, we were disappointed. The room was too small, hardly any space left to put your baggage/ jackets or to move past each other, the shower/toilet was tiny and breakfast quite simple. If you like home-made croissants or muffins for breakfast, maybe you'll be happier, but I could do without it and have a greater choice of other stuff instead (I fully agree with what JuniperSpring wrote here before). Also, the breakfast room was rather cold and there was no service, which had the charm of a hostel instead of B&B.
Of the side-streets in Banff, Cariboo Rd is still rather busy and many (loud) people came walking by at night or cars were passing. As we were staying in the room on the ground floor with the only window facing to the front, we woke up several times due to that noise. The room was not looked after, the little garbage bin in the toilet not emptied, even on the third day (of course we got a new bag when WE brought it to the reception desk, but that's not the point, is it?).
All in all you can argue that Banff during summer is very expensive and you get what you pay for; and if you have never been to that area or to Banff, the endless patience of the staff for their guests asking questions, seeking advice up to the point of needing guidance to almost every single aspect of their stay, Blue Mountain Lodge is the place to be. But if I had planned a little earlier than beginning of July (for August) I might have gotten something better. Our last stay in Banff 10 yrs ago in another B&B was definetely better.

It was really nice! We had a really nice welcoming and the recommendation where to go in Banff where great.
If we go to Banff again we come here. The breakfast is okay but the service make it perfect.
The rooms are small but the house is a 100 years old take care that you tell them how tall you are :-).
Or it maybe get a little tight.
Thanks for the great time.

If you want to have a great time in Banff and meet nice people who like to share their passion of the area, you couldn't find a better place !
Pascal, Pauline and Thea will be there for you !

The B&B looks like a family house, where everything is friendly and easy.
breakfast is good, with homemade croissant and very good muffins.
The rooms are not very big, but cosy and well decorated. I advise you to choose the cowboy bungalow where you can discover with fun the cowboy spirit which is all around the city !

But the best for you is just to try it yourself, so go for it !!

A Banff lover ;)

We visited in high season, July 2013. We wanted to stay in a more reasonably priced place than the $200 + others were charging. We paid about $140/night. We did NOT expect a $200 room when paying $140, you get what you pay for. This B&B appears to be an older, maintained, 2-story house, that's been converted to squeeze in as many bedrooms as possible. It's located in a residential neighborhood surrounded by houses. The neighborhood looked good and I felt safe. This B&B is in sight of the main street in Banff where all the shops & restaurants are located - a 2 minute walk. We stayed in 2 different rooms, the owner told us we got the 2 smallest rooms. The rooms were clean and slightly updated, and VERY small, just big enough to fit the double bed and a small TV (one of the rooms had a small table & 2 chairs). The bathrooms were tiny. The showers were the size of those in small RV's. The shower curtains draped into the shower pan which I thought was not hygienic. They supplied only 1 small bar of soap per room. There was no air conditioning, thankfully it's cool in the evening in July, we opened the windows. It was noisy outside late into the night with people talking and partying. Again, you get what you pay for so best not to expect an extensive breakfast. There was cereal & milk, but I only use almond or soy milk, so no cereal for me. They did not have decaf coffee, so no coffee for me. There weren't enough hard boiled eggs for all the guests so we missed out, disappointing. The plain croissants were good. There were toast, apples & bananas, and small containers of yogurt. The owner was helpful, as was the female employee who was very friendly and knowledgeable about all there is to do in the area.
