As skiers, the idea of taking the gondola up Sulpher Mountain was not on our agenda, as it did not seem unique. We were wrong. Talked into it by a package deal where $54 got us a ride up and down AND an Alberta Beef dinner at the Panorama Restaurant at the top, we took the ride up our last evening in town. On the edge of total wilderness, the view from the gondola was unmatched in our experience which includes places like Jackson Hole. There are places where the gondola rises nearly vertically. I couldn't look down. At the top, a fabulously engineered boardwalk a good half-mile long takes you up to the old weather station. You have 360' views of the Canadian Rockies from up there, and with snow and sunshine, it was magnificent. The Panorama Restaurant was surprisingly plush, the food was immaginative and delicious and the service was planned to make the diner feel welcome and pampered :-).
