My husband I stayed here for our honeymoon, and ended up checking out early and went to a different hotel. We went through 2 room changes and ended with a barking dog from 6:45 am until we checked out at 11:00am. We had originally asked for an upgrade for our honeymoon into a suite they would want to stay in if it were their honeymoon. They were pleasant and kindly showed us to a basement suite looking out at a cement wall right next to the service drop off. Eventually they put us in a room that was "ok" after calling us by the wrong last name several times and being corrected. What bothers me is that we insisted that we would pay for a memorable suite with a jacuzzi and beautiful surroundings, but they insisted that was not necessary and they would find us a room to our liking. When we called the front desk to let them know we were checking out early, there was no attempt to find out the problem and how they could make it better and keep our business. The customer service was terrible. It seems as though this hotel has grown too fast to keep up with the personal touches.
The Fairmont corporate office contacted us by email to find out how our stay was. My husband politely told them the issues we had and we have yet to receive a response 1 month later!

One cannot help but be awestruck at the sight of The Fairmont Banff Springs; however, why are the rooms so ho-hum? The resort has to be one of the most beautiful I have ever visited, but I do not understand how the rooms were overlooked in terms of décor, which felt like a room at the Quality Inn than the Fairmont. We stayed at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary and the rooms were much better. The true prize is the location which is just beautiful and worth a visit for that alone.

The common areas of the hotel are just as nice which makes the décor of the rooms even more puzzling. The Sunday Brunch is so worth the $39, I highly recommend it. Also, you cannot visit the location without a visit to the spa, which can be on the pricey side: a relaxation message with tax and gratuity was $200. However, access is granted for the entire day, so even if you leave, you can come back in the evening to enjoy the mineral pools. Coffee, tea, flavored water, snacks and fruit are free to enjoy. Order breakfast, lunch or dinner in the co-ed quiet room and enjoy with a killer view of the mountains.

This is a nice hotel and very close to town which is 20 minutes walking distance from the main street, Caribou, in Banff. For the price, the rooms are a major disappointment but the service, location and peace of mind is well worth the price.

“Unique rocky experience”

The Fairmont Banff Springs

This was a second trip, with the family for a ski-ing break. The kids have been agitating to return for the last 6 years and nobody was disappointed.

The standard of service is extremely professional and friendly throughout. Highlights included the concierge service. There are maybe 100 restaurants in Banff, and they can get busy. Getting the concierge to make bookings seems to bring results every time, and their suggestions were all very well chosen. The Bow Valley Grill has to be experienced for its extensive buffet, which must be the best part of 100 yards long and with views to make it difficult to chew! Also the spa pool is the best way to relax after a hard day on the slopes.

If I have to criticise, the restaurants are good but quite expensive, and are not all open every night. We also felt that there were so many conference and corporate guests that a little of the country house feel that I remembered had gone,

A good tip is to join the Fairmont Presidents Club (free) to get free wifi connection in your room.

I shall be back.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week in February. It was a luxurious experience from beginning to end. Although I have skied several times, it was my husband's first time. The hotel was an excellent choice as there were so many other activities going on. We went for a walk through the grounds with a guide. The scenery was breathtaking. One morning we looked out of our bedroom window and saw about 20 elk grazing on the golf course! Food was very enjoyable - especialy breakfast. The Waldhaus restaurant was superb - a real must! The best experience however, was sitting in the outdoor hot pool as it was snowing Staff were very professional and helpful, especially the concierge. Nothing was too much trouble. We did change rooms, as the first room was on the top floor (sttic) and was smaller than the other rooms. We were moved immediately. Tip -make sure you go on a husky dog sledding trip - it's an amazing experience. Also, don't bother hiring your skis from the ski shop at the hotel. Better to hire them on the slopes. We found the lady at The Ski Hub very aggressive, rude and unsympathetic to my beginner husband! Could not fault the hotel in any area and can't wait to go back next year.
