“Magical Time In Banff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2010

My husband and I really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Delta Banff. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable, complete with a big cotton duvet. The bathroom was large and the complimentary oversized robes were much appreciated when heading down to the hot tub and steam room. We parked our car underground which costs $12 extra per night. It was a safe lock up for our skiis and the hotel cleaned our front windshield each night which was a nice touch. The hotel itself is about a 7 minute walk from town - restaurants, grocery store, liqour store etc. I would definately stay here again.

Originally booked to stay at their sister property Chalton's Cedar Court, we were upgraded free of charge to the Delta and were very impressed with the hotel. Free underground parking is always a nice feature and we found it really easy to find a spot. May be tricky to park a large vehicle though.
The room was very clean and just large enough for our family of 3. Features we appreciated included a small fridge and a pocket door to separate the toilet area of the bathroom from the sink area. A great feature for families.
The pool area is stunning and has a very relaxing atmosphere. A hot tub with seperate mineral pool with a waterfall coming down into it. Not ideal for children though who want to play and splash.
The hotel staff were very friendly and we would definately stay again (if we should again be upgraded!)

This was the last of the 8 hotels we stayed in on our month long trip which took in Florida as well as the Rockies and it was the best overall. We stayed on 2 & 3 January so it was very quiet after the New Year rush. We really liked the feel of this hotel and the room, to the rear of the hotel was large, clean and very comfortable.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us all the information and advice we required for our short stay but our dinner server on both evenings was exceptional.
The Evergreen dining room was very well presented and the hotel have listened to previous guests and now offer lighter choices in the evening as well as the main dinner menu. This suited us and the meal we had on our second night was just fabulous - one of, if not the best, on our trip.
There is easy access to an underground car park and one very nice but simple little touch is your windscreen is cleaned for you overnight so that each day you can "enjoy the Banff scenery".

We stayed here Dec 20-24 and have to say it was overall a pleasant stay. I would go back and would recommend.

Location: The hotel is in a good location. It is on Banff Ave but it up a bit from the main core. (About a 5-8 minute walk). If you want to be next to everything them this might not be the best bet, but if you don’t mind a little light stole its perfect.

Rooms: Very clean. The room itself isn’t overly huge but good enough for two people. (Might be small for 4) The bathroom was large, lots of counter space. Beds are hard-ish, but really quite comfortable. The only thing I didn’t’ like was that the closet was in the bathroom… so you have to go into the bathroom to hang up your coat… bad design flaw. Though, this wouldn’t cause me to leave. Lol.

Amenities: I didn’t use the gym itself. This was small. I used the Pool area (consist of a pool, hot tub and steam room). The pool was really nice. Its small, but it was warm water and really pretty. Stone waterfall coming from the big hot tub up a small level. Very relaxing after a day of skiing.

Restaurant: Only ate here for breakfast. It was ok. It was breakfast. It was probably the least favorite spot of the trip, but if you just want to get up and go for breakfast its easy as you don’t have to leave the hotel. It’s also a little $$ for what you get. I also wouldn’t suggest getting room service unless you want to pay $3-$6 more a entrée… ooch.
I heard the dinner is good there, but didn’t go. There was a small bar in there too, but again, didn’t use it.

Other: The Concierge was very helpful. They approached us on entry ready with all the information we needed for you stay (Restaurant listings, things to do.. etc etc) Very helpful. They did valet parking ($12 a day) which was nice as the windows where always cleaned when we grabbed the vehicle.
The hotel itself was nice looking. It was nicely decorated for Christmas. It has a huge fireplace that was blazing the whole time. It actually put a smell in the bedroom.. which I kind of liked.

The only thing I really hated about the hotel was the turn down service. They came by every night at about 6 knocking loudly on everyone’s door.. If you look the door (no deadbolt) and ignore them, they would enter anyways. (We would be napping at this time after skiing) Putting the do not disturb sign doesn’t help much as you hear them knocking on everyone else's door. Would be much easier just to have a sign that says “Turn down service please”

All in all… a good stay.

My wife and I spent a week in the Delta Banff at the start of December 2009. Whilst I don't think it would be unfair to say that the decor in the Delta is starting to look a little aged compared to some of the newer hotels that have sprung up around it, that's pretty much the only non-compliment I could pay it.

The hotel is in a pretty good location, around 10 minutes walk from Banff's shops and restaurants. It's got it's own restaurant that serves a super breakfast, althought we didn't have dinner there as there was simply too much variety in Banff and we wanted to try as much as possible. The rooms are spacious and well presented and the staff were consistently, thoroughly excellent. There's also plenty of parking in the car park under the hotel, but you do have to pay for it, and a (small) gym, swimming pool, hot tub and sauna (or steam room? - I'm not an expert on these sort of things) in the basement.

Overall we had an excellent stay and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.

We were "walk-ins" staying just one night. We considered staying at the Rimrock but it just wasn't worth it for "just overnight". We checked two other hotels near the Delta and were put off by their 'downscaleness" (narrow dark hallways, chipped sink, that kind of thing). The Delta was the right combination of price/value/comfort. The front desk staff was very pleasant, the lobby attractive, the room huge (I think they gave us a corner room which was quite a bit larger than a typical room). The bed was actually a little hard for our taste, as were the pillows (for two of us, our daugher liked the pillow). The bathroom was nicely laid out with a good shower. Decor is a little ordinary. We were only there overnight, so didn't use the hotel amenities. I will say that the room where they have a treadmill, bike and one other piece of equipment is VERY tiny, claustrophobic actually. There is an indoor mineral pool and hot tub which, again, we didn't use. All in all, decent hotel for a decent price. If I were staying multiple days, it probably wouldn't be my first choice, but it met our needs.

Elegance without attitude - how true. Lovely hotel, staff very courteous and caring.
The dining experience was well beyond expectation. Would recommend the Beef Tenderloin and the Halibut. The desserts were decadent. We only wish we could have stayed longer.
The ambience and amenities of this lodge compare to the much larger resorts.
