“Conference Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

Really a mixed feeling here. Staff is all very pleasant. Love some of the architecture and the mountain views. Rooms are nice size and bed comfortable but time to update from small tube TVs. Did not appreciate the parking charge and $10/24 hours (to the second) of WiFi is ridiculous - one of the more annoying things I found in talking to people.

My hubsand and I wanted to get out of the city, away from the noise, for a nice relaxing stay in the mountains. We chose this hotel because it said it was quiet, off the main street of Banff and it gave a very nice view of Cascade Mtn. Well, 2 of 3 isn't bad... nix on the quiet. When we got our room(earlier then 4PM CHECK-IN...are we in Vegas ????) and saw that it was a corner unit with an intersection below us with 2 corner gas stations, we thought perhaps later in the evening things would quiet down alot. Mmmmmm.....NOPE !! Constant traffic well past midnight along with some very bosterous party goers (1am/4pm) and 4 trains. The trains I didn't mind so much.
Now, housekeeping....here's a tip.....CLEAN ALL parts of the room...not just change the bed. Everything was dusty and the bathroom left alot to be desired(rusty watermarks around the jets of the tub, dirty corners on the floor). No fan in there, either.
Last, not enough outlets, they used a powerbar !
Upon checking out I mentioned to the girl how noisy it was and she thought "that was odd".
All of this for $161 per night total. This hotel needs to bring up it's game plan for that kind of money...Banff or not.
The BEST parts were: the steam room/hot tub and the service at the Chnook Restaurant. Our hats off the the girls serving us and the chef.

This is a lovely hotel with good rooms and perfect service. The desk staff were very helpful, also the concierge and housekeeping.
We were delighted to be there and will certainly be back.

I stayed here in the summer and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Hidden costs for just about everything - $10 for 24hrs of WiFi? $10 for 24hrs of parking?

The rooms are alright, but a little dark and dated; when I asked one of the housekeepers about some weird stains on the heavy bedspread covers they informed me that they aren't washed between guest stays!!! ewwww!!!

Was woken up in the (very) early morning to a hyperactive little bellman furiously throwing bags onto luggage carts like it was the end of the world. When I asked him to please be quiet he glared at me and said he had a job to do! Seriously?!

What a nightmare. I thought I was in a Fellini movie the entire time I was there and couldn't wait to get out.

After a long day (and evening) on the road and checking a number of establishments along the "strip", settled in at the Banff Park Lodge. The staff were friendly and professional --- check-in was a breeze. Pivotal location to the centre of town. Room spacious and clean. Bed felt like sleeping on a cloud --- great! Large complex so depending were you park (underground), may seem a bit of a hike to your room (was not charged for parking). Recommend Melissa's across the street for breakfest. Recommend checking the internet prior to booking for the best deal in comparison to other hotels (checked hotels.com and expedia.ca to make sure price matched --- it did. Not hosed for late check-in).

Very nice place, though anything you get or service you receive do expect to pay for it! The lady at the front counter was wonderful! Very nice!! But why should we have to pay $10, per 24hours of our stay, for WIFI?? We were charged $165 in total for two people for one night, no complementary breakfast either :/ And that was the cheapest room...with a view of the parking lot...You can stay in Canmore an hour away pay only $110 and wake up to a view of mountains!...with Free wifi! Sorry the wifi kind of pissed us off, it was late we were tired we just wanted to let people know we arrived alright but no, only after dishing out $10 to make a post on facebook...

Room Tip: Somewhere else if you want a view.

Pro's: Downtown location, comfortable bed, decent size room with balcony.

Con's: Pink mildew/mould in/around bathtub and sink and IN jacuzzi jets (we didn't use jacuzzi because if how gross it was. Hair in bathroom. After showering and getting shower curtain wet it (the shower curtain) smelled like a dirty old rag/mould, we went to front desk and told them about the gross curtain and mildew and asked for it to be cleaned when we came back we learned all they did was change the curtain, pink mildew still everywhere! Bathtub facet dripped constantly and couldn't be turned off. There is no fan in the bathroom. The room in general was dark (lights were very dim). T.V's power button was missing! Parking $10/day. No bathrobes. For over $220/night stay somewhere else!!!
