“Wonderful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

After 19 hours of travelling (inc 2 flights & a long drive) we finally arrived! The check in was swift followed by a welcome phone call to the room to check everything was ok. Just over the road there was a local supermarket that we were able to get food and drinks from before our long awaited sleep! We were in rm 145, this overlooked the park. Every day we had between 2 and 4 young elks come and say hello to us! These were seen all around the complex. We also saw a large elk with antlers by the railway. Oh and the trains are soooo long - amazing! So, the room. The beds were so so comfy, the rooms very clean, the heating was instant when required. The beds were made everyday and also fresh towels daily. The whirlpool was fantastic, very hot and eased our aching muscles from skiing. Plenty of towels in the changing room. No complaints at all! Parking outside the room. Lovely food at Cougar Pete's in the Banff Alpine Centre across the way. Would recommend to anyone - we had a wonderful time here - next stop Lake Louise!

Room Tip: Check the room faces the park.

First time stay at this resort, stayed in the executive suite with king bed (two twins pushed together), gas fire place, balcony, jacuzzi tub, and steam shower. Bathroom was very nice, room was nice as well. Over all great stay! Service was friendly although had to call twice for an extra wine glass because she had forgotten. Location was great, just off the beat and track but close enough to downtown if it were nicer out would have been a great walk/bike ride. Did not get time to check out the pool or hot tub which looked small and the whirl pool was closed when we arrived.

Wait for this places reno to be completed. The location and amenitieds are great but cleanliness is lacking.
We had a flood in our room coming from the unit upstairs. It was obvious that it had occurred before.
Management was excellent about getting someone over right away but unfortunately they were not too knowledgeable. They were excellent about changing our room for the next night.
Place needs a cleaning as the second room was no cleaner than the first just less mould. Good that the renos are coming.
Suggesting in booking just call the fromt desk and make a reservation in one of the renovated rooms. Loved the lovation and the layout. Good value for money.

Room Tip: talk to the front deask they are responsive.

This was my 4th vacation to Banff and the first and last time I will stay at Tunnel Mountain Resort. According to the price I had paid and what I have read, I expected my stay to be wonderful and luxurious but it was not at all. We walked into our room and immediately walked out due to the lack of heat, space and because it was very dated. We decided to upgrade for an additional $200! This gave us a nice chalet but was still very dated and old with no scenery of the mountains. The accommodations (i.e. pool, hot tub, steamer, sauna, laundry, etc.) were in a very small room that was too hot and stuffy to be in for more than 5 minutes. Our room service did absolutely nothing each day besides provide us with towels, and it is a far walk from town. Also, after our leave, we had additional charges on our visa that needed to be dealt with through a long distance phone call.
There are much better places in Banff where you could stay for the same cost that you will end up paying for this one! :) Good luck.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

We were very disappointed with the condition of the chalet we rented 2 weeks ago. The chalet was run down, the furniture and floors were dirty - the place just needs a facelift. The location and views are amazing, but the condition of the chalet just didn't make the stay that enjoyable.

It's only about a 2 minute drive from downtown Banff, but is up on a quiet hill so that there's next to no noise from outside. The room was great overall. King sized bed. Two sinks and mirrors, balcony, nice TV, couch, fireplace, desk, etc. Nothing was left out. The bathroom itself was a little cramped to get in and out of, but it did include a shower (with steam room) separate from the bathtub (which was a jacuzzi tub). No fan in the bathroom at all though...which was a little weird. Otherwise was a great place. Staff was very helpful.

Downside? The fitness room. I'm an avid fitness enthusiast, and I always make sure I get in my scheduled workouts...even after a day of skiing and boarding. Unfortunately the fitness room left something to be desired. One "universal" machine, and dumbbells up to 50 lbs. One bench, and a couple pieces of cardio equipment. Far from being enough for someone who wants to actually work out. Nonetheless, this is fairly typical from hotels. Have yet to find one with an actual good gym, so I can't let that detract from the rating of this great place to stay. And at $85 a night when we booked...the value couldn't be beat.

My boyfriend and I stayed two nights. We booked through living social and received two free passes to the hot springs, and had a deal on our one bedroom suite. When we arrived (after a 4 hour drive) at 10:30pm, we were greeted by two women complaining that their room was FILTHY. After heading to the front desk to check in, we were having some chip malfunctions with my credit card, which it took nearly 40 minutes for the front desk staff to decide to swipe my card instead. I was tired, and at that point, beyond frustrated. But once we got everything sorted out, we headed up to our room which was clean, and cozy. We had a fireplace. HOWEVER, we were not offered any wood unless we wanted to pay $10. Compared to other hotels which offered a few logs, free of charge, already in place in your room, this was upsetting to me. We didn't use our fireplace at all during our stay. Other than those few mishaps, we had a jacuzzi tub, which was very nice. We had a full kitchen, which I always love in hotels.
Overall, our room was just average. Nothing made it overly exceptional, and I would stay there again, but not as my first choice.
