“Super spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

When you travel with a 6 month old all space is needed. Got a chalet with a loft, plenty of space, kitchen fully functional, views to the mountain, where we saw ? elk? just beside our terrace. Very quiet place, only fault in my opinion is that you cannot really walk easily to Banff, and they could have given salt and pepper for the kitchen, such a cheap detail but so necessary when you are staying in! Overall very good.

My daughter and I recently stayed for 6 days at the Tunnel Mountain Resort. The suite was extremely big and the cooking facilities were ideal for the both of us. The staff at the Front Desk were quite pleasant.
The only downside to our stay was problems with the hot tub. The first day it was out of order. Upon attempting to use it the next day the water was so hot that you couldn't stay in for more than a couple of minutes before looking like a cooked lobster.
Also, the room cleaning wasn't up to par. Our room was not even touched one day and on two other occassions wet towels were not picked up from the bathroom and the kitchen linens were not changed.
Overall, I would however, stay in this facility again.

We went on our first visit to Banff to experience the outdoors, mountain views and local attractions. The staff were very helpful in directing us to the sites of interest to us and also responded quickly to any requests for assistance related to our room. The resort is only a short 2 minute drive to the main part of town but is away from the crowded town centre. We were at the resort for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view. They are breathtaking.

We stayed 3 nights at the Tunnel Mountain Resort over Fathers Day June 17th, 18th and 19th. We have stayed at this hotel before. Our room was the executive suite. That would be my choice every stay. Fridge, microwave, coffee pot and more. Steam shower and Jacuzzie tub are excellent. The hotel staff was great.
A small probem with the sink drain and the staff were right on top of it. Very reasonable. If you book use Travelocity. Will be back again.

Room Tip: Executive Suite is a must.

Great location right next to some lovely trails. Thin walls so can be noisy but the room facilities I.e. the kitchen area were superb. Great for catering in for a change.

Room Tip: Noise tends to come from above so book a top floor suite.

Our stay at Tunnel Mountain was mixed. On the plus side, the location was good, only a 20 minute walk from Banff high street. There were also walking trails very close to the hotel. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. The kitchen facilities were good and the suite was spacious, with an extra sleeping area upstairs as well as the main bedroom. There were also in-room recycling facilities.
The main downside was the noise. Of 5 nights staying there, I only had two nights of good sleep. The first night was the worst – with sounds of rushing wind akin to a hurricane periodically sweeping through the room. I assumed that this was a loud bathroom fan being regularly used by our neighbours (who I heard drunkenly coming into the room at about 2am). The next morning, we saw that the thermostat had been left at 20C (we hadn’t touched it).We deduced that the noise of rushing air was the hot air coming through the heating vents in the floor (perhaps this is a more common heating system in Canada, but I have never come across this). A few sentences of explanation in the welcome information could have saved a bad night’s sleep in this case. It rained a lot on the 3rd night, and the rain sounded very loud on the (metal?) roof. The final night was a Friday, and once again my sleep was disrupted by drunken people talking loudly until 3.30am. It doesn’t help that the walls are very thin.
The Hotel also required a Credit Card (no alternative acceptable – not even cash!) to swipe on arrival as a deposit. Perhaps they have had bad experiences in the past with drunken people breaking things, but $250 plus the full cost of the hotel in advance seemed excessive.
This place was not cheap, so I would have expected a bit better for the money, but I suppose that Banff is an expensive place. It’s not a bad option if you are a heavy sleeper.

I was a little leery of this place after reading a few negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is an excellent value. Our room, an "executive King suite" was really just a larger hotel room with a sofa and fireplace. It was plenty spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom had a jetted tub and separate steam shower. This is a limited service facility, so housekeeping does not do a full cleaning each day. If you need this level of housekeeping, be aware of this and stay somewhere else. A housekeeper dropped by once a day to make the bed and leave clean towels. That was all the service we required, so we were satisfied. It's located a little ways from town, so keep that in mind if you're not going to have a car. There's a bus that stops right in front of the hotel, although we never tried taking it. There's a little pool off the office, which was nice, and some BBQ grills set up around the property in case you want to do a little outdoor cooking. It was very nice and low key. We would definitely return.
