“smart choice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

Banff Aspen Lodge perfectly located on the main street still gives you quiet moments in your room. Very friendly staff at the reception with 'happy to help' approach. Two families visited this hotel on 4 th and 5th August, 2014. Breakfast was good too. (only place on our tour where it was included in the price!) Free parking and free Wifi only added to the 'feel good factor'!

Room Tip: all rooms are good i guess...

Very convenient location, in the center of town. We hardly used our car and walked everywhere. Parking is free but space is tight. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I asked for a quiet room and got one in the back on the second floor where we could open our balcony door for fresh air. No views but that was ok with us. Breakfast room can get crowded. Wait till the tour bus leaves and you will have a better chance of a more relaxing meal.
Rooms are spacious and clean.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the back, 2nd or 3rd floor with a balcony if you want to be able to open your balco...

The hotel is in the centre of Banff, and you do not get a great view from your room. It is however very convenient for banff, and you can walk from there to anywhere in Banff within about 15 minutes. The breakfast room is quite small, and you sometimes have to queue for breakfast. They do not do evening meals, but there is plenty of choice in Banff for a meal. You should however book an evening meal in advance especially at the height of the tourist season in the summer. The room is a typical hotel room, but adequate for our stay.

Room Tip: Go down to breakfast early if you don't want to queue.

This was a lovely little hotel on the main street, a couple of blocks from the main shopping area, we didn't notice any street noise. The hotel was clean, although the exterior was showing signs of needing a bit of a paint, understandable given the harsh winter environment. The room itself was clean and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the mountains and in room WIFI. The squirrel that greeted us outside our room in the morning was a lovely touch! Breakfast included a selection of hot and cold foods and was quite acceptable, did have a bit of a wait both mornings to be shown to our table. THe front desk staff were very helpful and ready to give advice, including restaurant recommendations and where to spot the local wildlife.

You can't beat the location of this nice little hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable, with sort of standard motel features, and that was just fine. (When visiting Banff, the last thing you want to do is sit around in your hotel room.) There was a small fridge, which is very handy, and we had two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the sitting room. There was also a small balcony. The breakfast was above average compared with many other free hotel breakfasts I've had; offerings included scrambled eggs, hard-cooked eggs, bacon, sausage, granola, yogurt, cut fresh fruit, croissants, a nut bread, other kinds of bread for toast, etc. And the coffee was good! Would definitely stay here again. Only negative, comfort-wise, was the lack of air-conditioning, which probably wouldn't be a problem in the other 11 months of the year.

On arrival great friendly staff at the desk. The room was clean, comfortable and of a generous size with a balcony. At night it was peaceful and easy for sleeping. Breakfast was more than ample with pads of selection including fresh fruits, cereal, yogurt, porridge, and hot buffet. A hot tub was in use most of the time we were there. It is near enough to walk into the main city area plus free wifi and free parking. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms looked equally good.

The Banff Aspen Hotel is located in Banff on the main shopping street Banff Avenue. This is a great place. I checked in this afternoon for a 2 night stay during Canada Day celebrations. (I did not know that was happening when I made the reservations). The lobby was very modern and up to date. Right on the main street through Banff – great location.
The room is very nice with 2 queen beds, a desk and chair with a balcony, a color TV, coffee/tea maker and alarm clock. There is free parking, free Wi-Fi, and free continental breakfast.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The beds were just right, not too soft and not too hard. I would have liked to see bath sheets instead of bath towels. Be advised, the guest rooms are NOT air conditioned. So if you get a west facing room it does get pretty hot in the afternoon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building
