“Great place to stay in Banff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

I recently stayed at the Aspen Lodge with a group of 9 guys for a stag and we had a great time.

The rooms were perfect size, clean and spacious.

The outdoor hot tubs were a special touch which we took advantage of many times during our stay.

The staff was amazingly friendly, the desk manager Sue was easy to deal with and never said a word if we were a little loud (which we easily could have been in the late afternoon, early evening in the hot tub area) But we were always gone in the evenings.

They run a very efficient ship at the Aspen Lodge and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, cozy place to stay which in Banff.

The walk to the heart of Banff Ave was 5 minutes, and we had everything we could need just minutes from our door.

The only thing keeping it from being an excellent was that our last night we had room 110 which is right off the lobby. So as early at 6 a.m. there was a bit of noise from people coming and going which made it a little tough to sleep as we didn't have to get up until about 730.

There is also a shuttle right next door that traveled to all 3 resorts in the area.

We booked the trip with ski3 and they took really good care of us. Would deal with again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms near the stairways on each floor. They can get noisy in the early morning. Es...

Our room was located near the main exit/entrance to the hot tub area and was very noisy in the mornings or late nights with people coming back or leaving the hotel. They also felt the need to vacuum outside my door both mornings before I was up. Otherwise, the room was very spacious, the dual sinks was awesome and the living room area was perfect for our stay. The bathroom could have used more light, as the LED stuff they had in there wasn't enough. Breakfast was great both days and the hot tub area was very relaxing! I'd stay here again without question.

Room Tip: Avoid a room close to the lobby if you enjoy sleeping in.

We stayed here in January this year for a ski trip and were really pleased. Not much to look at from the outside but inside was modern and clean. Helpful reception staff .
The room was spacious and cleaned daily. Great coffee machine, tv, lighting and comfy furniture. Fridge was a little noisy of a night but could be unplugged if requested. Plenty of storage for us and although our balcony was on the main road there was no problem with noise.
Outdoor hot tub was a great, unusual setting , lovely of a night with the fire lit. Towels provided. Steam room available too. Laundry facilities were easy if needed.
Breakfast was great with alternating hot/cold. Plenty to choose from and staff great. Gave us some useful local information.
We didnt have any problems at all. Great location by the supermarket and banffs shopping stretch. Easy reach to restaurants and bars. Would definately revisit

Room Tip: we had a room with 2 queen beds. Room was large so we used one side for dressing.

Banff Apsen Lodge is in a great location in Banff. Our room had a lovely view and was big enough for 4 adults to sleep comfortably. I would definitely stay there again. My only complaint with sleeping was how hot the room was even with the air conditioner turned down to 8oC, otherwise the bed was very comfortable.

Thanks so much for your comments. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

On a side note, unfortunately we do not have air conditioning in our hotel. I am afraid you may have mistaken what you thought was the air conditioner as the heater thus perhaps causing your room to be a little warm.

We would be happy to explain how this works the next time you visit.

Upon arrival the 4 of us sharing two rooms were greeted with smiles and attention. All of our questions were answered in a professional manner with maps, directions and recommendations.
We were given ski lockers with room key access. Ground floor accommodations were in the courtyard with interior and exterior doors , two sinks, plenty of closet space, Refrigerator and two TV's to watch the Olympics. Wee Hoo!! We had two comfortable and Inviting beds with daily maid service. Just outside our rooms where the two heated pools with fresh towels.
We took advantage of the complementary breakfast. Good wholesome food was made available and the breakfast staff were always available for juice and coffee refills. Off to the hills via the Brewster Buss available across the street was convenient. A short walk into town past the outdoor skating rink and we were shopping, eating and drinking.
The only recommendation is that the pool stay open past 10PM as the snow, fireplace made it extremely inviting after a great Banff meal and a wonderful day of skiing.
Well done and we would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for the Ground floor rooms with patio doors. They are large, two entrances, close to the pool an...

Very impressed with this hotel. The breakfast was exceptional - fresh fruit (not canned), wonderful homemade muffins, hot eggs and bacon, etc. Rooms were clean. On the smallish side but that's OK - very reasonable rate. We had an issue with partiers in the middle of the night. Phoned down to the front desk (Tyler) and it was handled promptly and efficiently. Same partiers started up an hour later and Tyler handled it again. Would definitely recommend it and we will be back.

We stayed at the Banff Aspen Lodge last year and had a really nice visit so we thought we would return again this year. We stayed for two nights on the Family Day weekend and in my opinion it has definitely gone downhill.

On our first night we were kept awake by drunk, rowdy kids running and yelling in the hallway. This went on several times. Finally once they went back to their rooms we were disappointed that two of them were next to us and we could clearly hear everything that was going on between the two of them, if you know what I mean. There was zero soundproofing. When we complained to the front desk, the girl was quite rude to us and told us that it was a wedding group. So what?! Like that's an excuse for the rest of your guests being kept awake?! Why didn't you group them together then? She wasn't helpful or friendly and I was actually quite put off by her lack of concern for our quality of stay.

Can anyone actually sleep on those super thick pillows? Both my husband and myself ended up throwing the pillows on the ground in the middle of the night, sleeping with no pillows and had super sore necks. We requested thinner ones the next day, which we received, but it didn't make up for the crappy sleep the night before. My husband also complained about the quality of the mattress.

There was some kind of red (blood??) splatter behind the door in the bathroom. I guess when the maid goes in to clean, she doesn't close the door behind her, so she wouldn't see it. Gross.

On our second night the toilet started overflowing (onto the floor). I guess the guy came relatively quickly to fix it, but that didn't stop toilet water from getting everywhere all over the floor. He used our bathroom towels to soak a bunch of the water up.

The TV remote was broken and the piece to hold the batteries in kept falling off.

The location, hot tubs and breakfast are all nice, but we will probably stay elsewhere after our experiences this weekend.
