“Good for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

This was ok for the price. The staff could not answer questions about the area, we feel they should be more familiar with the attractions and directions. Gave us a map and suggested we go to the visitor center. Room was ok, parking was a little strange because the underground parking was always full and the outdoor parking was very tight spots. We were only here one night, so it was ok. The sink was in the room, outside of the bathroom, which seemed strange, but ok This hotel was close to walk to restaurants and shops. The best part was the breakfast. It was in the basement, but very good selections. They had someone gets your drinks for you and you served yourself the food. Nice breads and home baked muffins and cakes. Very fancy toaster to toast your bread. Fresh made hot oatmeal available. It was one of the best free hotel breakfasts we had on our whole trip through the Rockies.

Thank you for sharing your Banff Aspen Lodge experience. I have passed your feedback onto the hotel’s Front Office Manager to review with his team, as you are correct; our staff should definitely be able to answer questions about the Banff area. I apologize for this inconvenience.
I am happy to read that the hotel’s complimentary continental breakfast was among the best that you experienced on your trip; I will let our Breakfast Room know this!
Sincerely,
Christy – Business Development Manager

How you feel about this hotel, depends on what you feel you need in Banff .... one of the world's great destinations. If you are realistic, and know that in all likelyhood, you will spend very little time in your hotel ,... then it will meet your basic needs. True, we did not get the room config we requested, but the price was reasonable, the staff was excellent, and it was a few steps from the heart of town. But ... if you plan to spend much time in your room, you will find it lacking for space , with NO decent chairs, and old CRT non HD Televisions. The breakfast was OK as well. Set realistic expectations

Room Tip: If you make a reservation on line, check back often to see if there are specials before you go. We d...

Thank you for your feedback. If looking for a spacious hotel room in Banff, I recommend reserving our Premium Room. This room type has a variety of bedding configurations that can accommodate a lot of different needs and includes a table and two chairs, along with a balcony /patio. Our complimentary continental breakfast is in the process of being upgraded; it will soon include bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs one day and cold meat and cheese the next. This will rotate daily. I hope you enjoyed your time in Banff National Park!
Sincerely,
Christy – Business Development Manager

Stayed for a couple of nights and found this hotel suited our needs very well. Check in staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms were large and comfy and well appointed.Internet was free and worked well.Breakfast was very good. There is parking out the back and some undercover secure parking as well. Location was excellent. There is construction work going on at the moment, it didnt bother us but if you need a nap in the middle of the day stay somewhere else.Overall we found it to be a very pleasant stay.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

We were a group of 6 Aussies travelling together and made our decision to stay at this hotel after reading previous reviews and we certainly made an excellent choice. We were looking for something mid price but of a good standard and we were not disappointed. The gentleman on the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. When your first point of contact at a hotel is by a member of staff who is friendly and greets you with a smile, you are usually onto a good thing. Our room was located on the 2nd floor towards the back of the hotel overlooking the carpark (this was not an issue).

Room: It was spacious, clean and appeared to have been recently redecorated. The bed and pillows were soooooo comfy.

Breakfast: Staff were very accommodating and friendly. There was a good selection for a "continental" breakfast and yes, the Granola lived up to previous reports!

Facilities: We loved the outside spa, especially the fact that is snowed. There is an onsite laundry however I think another machine and dryer would be good as there were six of us and we all needed to do laundry on our arrival. With only one machine and one dryer it took a lot of our time juggling a washing schedule around our sightseeing plans. We did not have any problem parking our van in the carpark but I don't think it was a particularly busy time at the hotel.

Renovations: The building work taking place did not bother us at all. It appeared that the work was being carried out during the day at a reasonable hour.

Location: Excellent! Very convenient to the downtown area. I would describe the hotel's location as being just on the edge of the shopping strip. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a supermarket close by.

Having been on the road for 5 weeks and staying at numerous hotels since leaving Banff, Aspen Lodge would rank as one of our top "value for money hotels" .

Thank you for your review and sharing your Banff Aspen Lodge story. I am glad that the hotel met your expectations and more importantly…that the ‘World Famous’ homemade granola was enjoyed by all! The outdoor hot tubs are an amazing experience and the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Banff National Park. I am happy that our staff members looked after your needs and I have passed your review onto the rest of the Banff Aspen Lodge team for them to review.
Sincerely,

This is a mid-sized motel located on the main street within the town of Banff. We were upgraded to a suite at no additional cost as there was construction activity going on at the backside of the hotel. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfy. The reception staff were nice and accomodating and allowed us to check as early as 10 am. The breakfast was the usual continental type but in ample quantity. Restaurants at walking distance from the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the upper floors and on the side facing the road. Provides a view of the mountain

I was in town for a conference for four nights. The Fairmont was sold out and so I thought I would give this place a try. I was very impressed. This isn't a luxury hotel, but it really had everything I needed. It was clean, had good sized rooms and the staff were friendly and helpful. The (included) breakfast was a great perk (great home made granola!), as was the free Internet. The hotel is well-located, in the middle of town, and a short walk to the Fairmont (or $8 cab or $2 bus). Overall I was quite pleased, and unless you are really looking for a luxury 5-star hotel, I would recommend this place to anyone— you won't be disappointed.

Although we only stayed one night it was great. We were there for a girls weekend and the room was perfect, the beds were divided but 2 sinks and the bathroom which left us with some privacy and each room had its own tv so if one was up before the other they could watch tv. The location was fantastic, close enough to walk to downtown and and all restaurants but far enough away from all the late night partying noise. Will be my preferred hotel for every Banff trip now.
