“Our Resort since 1999”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2010

Wow, we love it here it feels like our home right down to the beautiful surround fire place and decor. Oh my goodness the Restaurants are magnificent. Must be complaining Americans of course, who in fact say (think) this resort is sub-standard ( I am not biast hence forth my parents,'Mom and Dad' are American Californians who really like it here) Us Canadians really have to question what life style do these complianers' 'they' really come from? I live quite comfortable, and we only stay at 5 Diamond resorts around the globe, I have 'lessuired' at the Banff Springs Resort in which is VERY spectacular, exspecialy their Golf Course, but we feel more at peace and home here it really is quite 'Real' and comfortable, very family our ages are 10yrs throuth to 2yrs. Therefore I can not conceive why there are reviews below 4 I can' not understand, 'probably people' who have not experienced lax so they expect more? My husband and I were married at this wonderful Resort in which we have been visiting since we were only 17yrs old (13 yrs). And we will be back in two weeks. Thank you.

When you first pull in you are greeted by valet attendents, and upon entering lobby the hotel looks quite impressive. But, it just goes downhill from there. We were very disappointed in our room, as it was small and actually not as nice as the Holiday Inn that we had stayed at in Calgary the previous night. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable, so did not sleep very well. The swimming pool area was quite nice. Considering the price of the room you should not have to pay an extra $15-25 a night for parking, or $14.95 per night for the privelege of using their wireless internet. (I walked up the road with my laptop to the Starbucks where it was free). Would probably not stay there again.

Neatly tucked away in the hills on the outskirts of Banff, this hotel may not be beautiful from the outside but what you see on the inside is worth the trip. Spacious rooms with fantastic views over the grounds and the golf course from almost all the rooms are worth the trip out of town just to wake up to. The rooms were clean and adequately equipped, the only thing missing was a proper shower and the bathrooms could use an enlargement to bring them up to standard with the rest of the room.

The rest of the hotel facilities were as expected. Spacious underground parking was provided for all guests and the hotel staff were curtious and helpful. The only part that let it down slightly was the Health Club, which was showing signs of age - the pool was small and the gym equipment tired.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

My husband and I booked the Rimrock thinking that any room you spend 200+ on in a 4 1/2 star hotel will be great. We did not need anything fancy, but expected a lovely room. We booked a standard room and were plain unimpressed. It had no view, a 20 inch, 20+ year old TV which barely worked and the room was in serious need of redecorating. We were not expecting anything really fancy, but we could have stayed in a much nicer suite somewhere else for a lower price. Internet costs $14 a day and they charge you $15 to park both of which are free at many lower priced hotels. If you are looking for a nice room look somewhere else but if you want a fancy lobby and a five diamond restaurant in your hotel stay here.

We spent 2 nights here with 2 young children (2 and 5) and had a great time. We got a good rate (150/night), so no complaints about the value. Lovely lobby with amazing views, plenty of friendly staff on hand and great indoor pool area. Things are pricey (but everything in banff is) - but the parkade was free. Our only 2 complaints were the room's dinky television, and no free wireless internet.

Just returned from 7 days staying at the Rimrock Hotel in Banff. It is far enough out of downtown to be peaceful and quiet, but close enough by car (5 minutes) to have access to all the shops and restaurants on the main street. Unless you're a young 20 you don't want to stay in downtown...too much noise, people, and too little of the nature you came to enjoy. This hotel competes with Fairmount Banff (an old historic hotel) for the four star business in town. We preferred the Rimrock because it is more modern, the rooms are larger, and the service and staff were as accommodating as could be. We really enjoyed this hotel. We booked thru hotwire and were given one of the basic rooms, but still we looked out at pine trees as far as they eye could see. We were told we could change to a better room later in the week if we wanted, but opted to stay put. The bathroom was large, the room had two comfortable chairs to sit on, and a refrigerator. The only complaint we had was the television was really old and quite small. Normally we don't watch television on vacation, but we wanted to watch the World Cup and the TV just wasn't adequate. But, I need to say, for 7 days we had no complaints about the service, the food, really anything. It is a first class, high service operation.
Banff Park is beautiful and I would recommend this area for just about anyone who likes the out of doors. The scenery is breathtaking and the Canadians we met were as nice as you could want.
