“Old World Charm and Breathtaking Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Service: The staff at the Rimrock were exceedingly helpful and genuine. Everyone made eye contact and truly expressed a desire to enjoy the accommodations and their beautiful parks. Jeff the doorman consistently went above and beyond, whether it was taking photos of families, ensuring tourists understood the bus system, or sharing secrets of little known vistas - he was very courteous and helpful. The services of the concierge - Jess and Thomas were equally helpful.

Sleep Quality: I typically do not sleep well while traveling. I can honestly say that this was the best sleep I have ever had at any hotel I have stayed at. The beds are firm and the pillows and sheets are high quality.

Rooms: We stayed in a standard room with a balcony. I believe the size of the room and the bathroom were adequate. We had a partially obstructed view but still could still see plenty of Sulphur Mountain. The water pressure and temperature of the shower were great.

Location: We chose this location because of the proximity to the Hot Springs and Gondola as we didn't want the hassle of a car. Additionally, being outside of town was a bit quieter and offered breathtaking views of the scenery. Included with the room is a complimentary bus pass, with pickups directly in front of the hotel. The schedule runs approx every 40 mins, so we seldom had to plan our schedule around transportation. The only exception is that the last bus leaves town at 11PM which can put a cramp in your night life, but cabs are also readily available.

Room Tip: If you are coming to the hotel for the view, upgrade to a Premier room. I peeked in the doors while...

I have stayed at the Rimrock a few times. The atmosphere is very nice. I have always upgraded for a room with a view and the view is breathtakingly beautiful. The beds are nice and the lobby/staff are very helpful. However, I found in each room the bathroom is small, and lacking. For a $400 room I expect more from the washroom.

We have just completed our three day stay at the Rimrock and we are very sad to be leaving. Everything about the hotel has been fantastic- from the warm welcome, to the superb staff, to the great food and stunning location! We were a bit worried that we would be too far out of town but we had unlimited passes for the excellent bus service to and from the centre of Banff. It just wasn't a problem.......and the views from the hotel were breathtaking. We can't wait to return . Absolutely wonderful. Thank you .

I booked 15 rooms for our works conference. Some of us upgraded to the grandview...me room just better view and complimentary valet. The rimrock used to be my favorite hotel in Banff...It is still nice but the rooms need some updating, especially the bathrooms. Only a 3 star tops the way it is..Comfy beds..What was great is all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A++++. Food at all restaurants and even the catering we had was also top notch. Update the rooms, maybe add some laptop connections at the desk...and the rimrock will be grand again.

Room Tip: grandview is worth the upgrade as valet is $30 alone.....

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights beginning of October. We ate several meals in the hotel and had all great dining experiences except one iffy Lobster Benedict. The staff were all very pleasant and professional. They have a very good bus service which takes you pretty much anywhere you need to go (added bonus the hotel gives you complimentary passes) so there is no need to have a car.Overall this was a great experience would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Our recent visit to the rimrock was short but very pleasant.

The first room we were given had a horrible view (of a brick wall), but when I called the lobby and asked to be switched to a different room, they did so without hesitation. Our second room had a beautiful view of the mountains. The room was spacious, and quiet for most of the time (other than in the evening, until about 11pm, when you could hear the piano playing in the bar).

We had breakfast in the primrose restaurant and it was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

The lobby bar was also a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a pre-dinner drink.

The hotel has a shuttle that brings you down the mountain into Banff central and it runs every 30 minutes. This was very helpful and convenient.

The hot springs were located just up from the hotel, within a 3 minute walk (although a steep incline for those who are handicapped or not fit).

Overall a great stay, and I would definitely return again.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of June when there was a major flooding in the Banff area. The hotel was very accomadating and helpful in assisting with the condition and allowing us to make changes. Nathan especially did a great job and went above and beyond.

Overall, the hotel was good, the location is a little further away from the town but buses are running regularly. It is close to the hot springs and gondola ride. It was great place for my family and had my parents there too and they really enjoyed it as well.
