“A Nice Stay in Beautiful Surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

I recently stayed here for 3 nights during a company conference. I stayed in a standard room on the 2nd floor. The hotel is not located in the town of Banff per se however the town has a bus service that is free for those staying at the hotel. It only takes about 10 minutes to get into town and there are frequent busses. You only need to show the driver your card key. My view, even from the 2nd floor was breathtaking. I was at the rear of the hotel overlooking the forest. The room's focal point was the view from a sort of bay type window. My only issues were that the showerhead leaked and my coffee maker occasionally spewed water when brewing. It wasn't a big enough deal to complain about however one has to wonder why nobody checked at least the showerhead between guest visits. I did report the problem to the from desk upon checkout. I frequented the bar a few times and the service was impeccable. We had a waitress and waiter both from the Montreal area and their service was excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot recall their names but bravo to them both.
I found the bed very comfortable and the hotel seemed was quiet at night. I know that there were people beside me however I never heard a thing. Good soundproofing. The room was cleaned thouroughly daily.
Front desk check-in and check-out was efficient and friendly.
I did not use the pool, restaurants or any of the other services. Breakfast and lunch was provided to us outside our meeting rooms at the hotel. I have no complaints nor did I hear of any complaints from my co-workers.
The hotel is located within a short walk of the hot springs and the gondola ride (and very much recommended). I would certainly return anytime.

Room Tip: I liked my room (222) as it was quiet. If I were to return for a pleasure stay, I believe that I wou...

This is a quality hotel with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. Although out of the centre, it is a short walk away from the Banff Gondola & hot springs. The Deluxe Room we stayed in was a good size as was the bathroom. It was clean & comfortable. There was complimentary coffee & wi-fi in the room. It costs $16 per day to park at the hotel, but there is a shuttle bus to town.
The buffet breakfast was excellent & had a wide selection. We also ate in the Primrose dining room at the hotel & had the set menu which was very good value.
Would definitely recommend the hotel.

This is our first time in Banff so we thought to choose the best place where we can enjoy the scenery from our own hotel room. We got what we paid for; higher end selection on the 9th floor including valet parking. However, it is out of town so you would need a car to enjoy the area. There was a shuttle to town but we did not use it.
The room was quite and of an excellent size. Two huge corner windows gave us a full view of the valley and the river in town. Beds were comfortable. Good selection of pillows. Blackout curtains. High end toiletries. There were only two short falls which annoyed me; too little light especially in the bathroom and a faint smell of sewers when you enter the room.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms with a view is what you should consider when you book unless you are out all day a...

Front of hotel staff was very professional and welcoming after the initial shock of how far out of town the place was. Rooms were excellent and housekeeper ringing up to see if all was to liking with room was a pleasant surprise. Large room with two queen size beds and well equipped. Mountain views was to die for. Reading other guests reviews about the place pretty well sums it up for this place. Restaurants and staff service was very professional and very proud to say they considered the place the best in town. Great place and would recommend to anyone.

Initial shock wa sthat the hotel was out of town so far.
BUT the room views & service was excellent & staff very attentive.
Bathroon tile mould was not needed.
Free town Shuttle was nice BUT really P'd when the return drove past @ the in town stop when another bus was parked in the slot.
Bus numbers do not correspond with the timetable @ the bus stop & you need to catch number 1 bus.
Did not like being charged $16 a day to park our vehicle but did appreciate they didn't charge for internet access.

Room Tip: We stayed in north wing 418 & views were lovely

The Rimrock is a very good hotel with well-trained, extremely friendly and helpful staff. The conference facilities and restaurants are also very good. What elevates the Rimrock to "excellent", IMO, is the awesome view you get from any window facing away from the road. The view from my room was spectacular and made waking up a special treat.

This is one of those venues where it really pays to select the "with a view" option, and aim for one of the higher floors.

I have stayed at the Rimrock twice so far. Both times have been pleasant stays. The view is obviously one of the main points of coming to stay in the hotel. I also liked that you can use the bus for free by showing your room key and the hot springs is about a ten minute walk away. Rooms are large, comfortable, clean, and beautiful. There is a free internet option that isn't bad. I like that this hotel is quiet. Which at times makes it seem like it's just you and your partner staying. The service has been awesome. We went to the cafe, honestly not paying attention to the time and ordered something that would take a bit of time to make. The gentleman behind the desk was really nice and still made it for us. All in all, I really like this hotel and will definitely come back.

A tip would be: if you don't like transit or walking then go with another hotel that is closer in Banff.

Room Tip: Go with one of the deals that are offered if you can.
