“Great place to stay in Banff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed for a 2 night stay in October. The hotel is well situated for touring the area. Our room was on the 7th floor and had a lovely view of the mountains. However, from the beds, your view is of the hotel. I don't know why the beds weren't placed on the opposite wall, where you would have a much better view. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only meal we had in the hotel was breakfast--delicious! We regretted not trying their restaurant. If you can splurge, I think it is worth it to get a room with a valley view instead of a mountain view. It is magnificant.

Room Tip: Choose a room on 7th-9th floor, Valley view.

Nodomo,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and I apologize for the view not meeting your expectation. I would be pleased to provide you a complimentary upgrade on your next stay, based on availability, to allow you to take advantage of the view from your bed. I agree, there really is nothing like waking up and looking straight out to the majestic views of the Rocky Mountains! Please contact me if I can be of any additional assistance.

Sincerely,

Having spent a week in Vacouver, enjoying all the trappings of a bustling city, my wife and I travelled to Banff to spend a week of our honeymoon.

The contrast between city life and the more relaxed pace of life in Banff was immediately obvious.

The Rimrock sits in a perfect setting in the mountains above the town, but provides a regular free shuttle bus service into the centre of Banff. The surrounding scenery is nothing short of breath taking and this was also true of the view from our room.

The hotel itself is huge, with decent enough restaurant and bar options for those not wishing to venture into the town. However the food was perhaps a little pricey for the quality. Not to say that it was bad, but was probably more of a "hotel standard" than many of the excellent reastaurant options a short bus ride away. Some features of the hotel may seem a little dated to the seasoned traveller, but I suspect that this may be true of may of the hotels in this region. In my opinion this simply adds a bit of character to the place.

The staff were extremely friendly, especially the porters who are always ready to greet guests with a smile and pleasant conversation.

One of the top selling points of this hotel for ourselves, is oddly not even a hotel feature! The Rimrock sits directly across the road from Banff Upper Hot Springs, a natural hot spring facility. For the meager sum of approx $8 you can kick start your day with a soak in the wonderful heated outdoor pool (and perhaps a treatment in the spa). As a bonus we were also fortunate enough to witness deer at extremely close quarters just outside the hotel entrance one morning.

In addition to this pefect start to a day, the hotel also has a fantastic bar/lounge where we chose to unwind most evening with a cocktail or bottle of wine in front of the roaring log fire.

My only small complaint would be that no acknowledgement was given to the fact that were were "honeymooners". Not that we're the sort to expect red carpet treatment or anything, but even just a small "congratulations" can go a long way to boosting the feel good factor.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear of the property have stunning mountain views.

Stayed here in early September the staff are wonderful, extremely helpful in providing you information and suggesting places to visit. The lobby area is great to relax after a day of activities and have a drink. The location is worth the extra money just a short walk to the hot springs and the gondolas and to go to the village the free bus service makes it all hassle free. Definitely would recommend staying here

A friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a night at the Rimrock, with dinner at the Eden Room restaurant. It was amazing. The room (on the 4th floor) had a pleasant view, but the higher floor rooms are better. In some ways, the rooms are looking a little tired, and for a pricey hotel I would expect to find the rooms a little better appointed. We got a good deal on the room but they can stretch into the hundreds of dollars. A view is only worth so much, so I hope they improve the baths, showers, linen and amenities (which were modest/ungenerous in comparison to some other hotels).

The Eden Room was outstanding. One of Canada's finest restaurants, it is not cheap. We both had the Chef's pairing menu, and the check came in just shy of $600. For this, we were treated to very professional attention, seven delicious/exquisite courses, and a personal visit to our table from the chef. The wines were excellent and the staff were nothing short of incredible. Professional, not intrusive, friendly, and they really made the evening. Rob the sommelier was a real gem. the Maitre'D could have toned it down a bit, though... he was a tad ingratiating and after a minute I just wanted him to disappear.

If you are looking for a very special treat, I recommend it.

It is great to read that you were able to take advantage of Eden, and the amazing experience that you get from their team. Our Chef, Maitre' D and the servering staff always work to make a truly unique dining experience.
I am excited to share with you that we will be beginning a room refresh program in 2013, which will include an update to many of teh items you listed.
I hope to see you back here to see the changes. Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance!

This hotel is located right in the heart of the mountains, yet has all of the luxuries. Our room was comfortable, especially the bed, and right out our window, a breath-taking view of the mountains. This hotel is literally across the street from The Banff Hot Springs (you can walk!) and The Sulfur Mountain Gondola. The cab ride into Banff was 5 minutes and $9.00, what a deal...you drink and not have to worry about driving! The breakfast room has a wall of windows so every moment you are at this hotel you are enjoying your reason for being here. Don't just stay in the hotel though, get out and enjoy Banff!

In The middle of the national park, on the top hills of Banff, hiding real diamond.
Walking distance from the top springs' and the Gondola station.
Charming, wonderfully and romantic, with a stunning view to the peaks of the Rockies Mountain.
The view is an indescribable, beautiful lobby, warm and enjoyable.
Tasty breakfast and luxurious rooms,
We stayed two nights, and enjoyed very much.
I Highly recommended.

Very nice and clean.comfortable beds. The staff are all friendly and helpful.my one gripe is that you have to pay for wifi in your room. There is free wifi in the lobby but I would have appreciated it in my room. The coffee from the café is delicious.
