this is an awesome hotel with friendly staff. The hotel itself could use a bit of an upgrade but everything else made up for it. We had fantastic food in the lodge. The room service was quick. The staff was very friendly and went out of there way to add kindness to our day. We were impressed as it was at the end of a long season. We wouldn't mind our kids getting a job there when they are older!
We even played a game of 'hilarious bingo' with a bunch of friendly guests and an awesome staff (smart young man) in the outdoor spa. A lot of fun!!!

Room Tip: close to the ground and to the bar as you will be too tired to move after such great skiing

Thank you for this review.

I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your time at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge-- that hot tub bingo is a huge hit!

We hope you will join us from Australia again soon.

Very disappointed with our stay at the Sunshine lodge. Recommend staying in Banff at any one of the hotels which will have more class and cheaper rates. Rooms in the lodge were clean and comfortable. Food in hotel was average with poor service. Friendly staff but not focused on their jobs...their phones were more important.Check in was great but really?....people changing in lobby!!! I dont care to see some guys underware! Not a word was said by the desk attendant.I also had to complain to the front desk in regards to non guests or perhaps guests climbing into the hot tub with their dirty undergarments on. Who knows how many days these were skied in. This continued through out the day as I watched people come and go.Disgusting!!!!!Swimwear should only be allowed in pool! chemicals or not. ...this discouraged myself from attending the pool.If you are expecting to stay in a classy hotel.....think again. No excuses.....NEVER AGAIN!

our title says it all!! we have been staying at theSunshine Mtn. Lodge/Sunshine Inn for the past 15 or 20 years, more recently with family but previously during the "Ski Weeks" offered by SSV, & loved every minute. from trips up the hill on busses & now the world-class gondola, to great meals in the Chimney Corner, top notch accomodation in the only ski-in ski-out hotel in Alberta, & of course the best groomed runs to boot!! Now with Complimentary lift tickets for those of us over 80 its a skier's paradise!!!
need I say more?? ---by Bill Gilroy, Edmonton

Our room was small but very adequate, modern and clean and really it was everything we needed. It didn't have a fridge but we had a cooler that housed our cream, yogurt, and quick snack items which we stored out on the deck, just put ice in it. Great view of the ski hill.
We dined in the restaurants, the food was good, the wine selection was running a little low but it was the end of the season. Staff always smiling and helpful. Honestly, we will be back again next season and will definately recommend it to others.

Really nice to be able to stay on the hill. Staff was helpful. However, the room hadn't been cleaned well. Floor was sticky and it looked like someone threw up in the humidifier. The restaurants gluten free food was not as good as I was hoping.

Stayed two nights. I found that all of the staff really did their best to make my stay enjoyable. Baggage handling at all stages of the process went very smoothly. I had brought vegetables to make a salad, but had forgotten oil and vinegar for the dressing. I asked at the restaurant if I could get some oil and vinegar, and they promptly brought me a cup with mixed oil and vinegar. They even lent me salt and pepper shakers. A similar scene was repeated at breakfast when I needed to borrow a spoon for the breakfast that I had brought. Staff were universally friendly and professional. The price was reasonable, and the room was very nice. Would unquestionably stay here again.

Stayed for a couple of nights and for the most part enjoyed the weekend. Check in and out and baggage handling went very smoothly. Friendly and very accommodating. Room 518 was clean and quiet....nice to be able to open window for fresh mountain air. Very comfortable bed and pillows.
Trappers was great....too bad that it closed between 5 and 8 pm....apres-ski?? Had a couple of meals at the Grill which were ok but very pricey! Corn salsa on bison burger was great. French onion soup all bread and no broth. Service very mediocre...no ice in water..missing roll-ups..think she was hungover!! Nice couch in front of fireplace.
Hot tub needs supervision.....way too many non guests entering tub right off hill. Stripping down to shorts/sweatpants and jumping in not showered...yuck!! Taking up space in tub and killing the chlorine!!Boots/jackets/packsacks all over tub deck area. Turned us off from going in. You pay money for the amenities....you should be able to use them!!
Also...presumably non guests stripping down to underwear in main lobby right in front of check-in?? Front desk staff should be controlling this! Not very classy having some dude showing off his beer belly while guests checking in/out.

Thanks for your review, Chuck.

I promise you that all of the feedback you provided here will be passed on to the appropriate manager(s) to look into.

As for the hot tub situation, we had an event taking place where participants were allowed to warm up in the hot tub. Please know that we will be looking into this and perhaps making some changes for next year.

Best regards,

Mark Bell
