This was our second stay at Mount Royal Hotel, the first time was great, which is why we returned. Unfortunately this stay was nowhere near as pleasant.
First problem was we were in a wing that had stairs between the lobby elevators and our room, which meant that we were unable to use the baggage trolley all the way to our room.
Our room had a strange smell on arrival, I think it was always there, but we got used to it.
The noise from the hallway was ridiculous, we were woken both nights multiple times between 1am-3am due to others loudly walking down the hallway. There was also random loud noises coming from the bathroom (pipes, I believe) that woke us a few times.
Otherwise everything else was okay, it was just disappointing as last time was so great, we had decided that Mount Royal was going to be our 2013/2014 winter hotel in Banff, but now we need to investigate alternative hotels.
