“Clean, Comfortable & Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

I have stayed here a couple times when I am staying in Banff. I like this hotel because it is clean, close to downtown and includes a free breakfast. The staff are always friendly and helpful as well.

The rooms are a decent size and include a mini fridge. If you are looking for something fancy then I would not recommend staying here but if you want a decent, clean hotel then this is what you are looking for.

Location was the best, xo close to downtown!! The hotel was clean, beds we're so comfortable. Breakfast was free so it was for us a good saving!! The pool and the two hot tubs was amazing!! Would stay there again!

Room Tip: I stayed on the banff avenue side. The view was amazing. A little noisy at night but it is Banff aft...

Upon arrival, we were told there was an additional $50 damage deposit that had to be added to the pre authorization, which I was not told about upon booking the room. (I spoke with someone on the phone directly when booking).
Then when we got to our room, we were very disappointed with what we saw. I understand the pics online are not exactly what every room is going to look like but when we opened the door, we were immediately in front of the bathroom sink. The actual bathroom was very tiny as well.
I was expecting a fireplace and more space but we did not have a fireplace in the suite and it was alot smaller then expected.
Also, we had bought food and needed to put it in the fridge (and had turned the fridge up upon arrival) and noticed the next day when we wanted to eat the food, that the fridge was not working. We did bring this to the attention of the staff member at the front desk but we did not get a discount for the inconvenience, not to mention the money we lost from having to throw out the spoiled food (meat pizza that needed to be refridgerated).
Also, our suite was close to the stairs and the sound of people going up and down the stairs was unreasonably loud. You could also hear the housekeepers talking outside in the hall early in the morning and then all of the loud drunk people that were yelling outside till 2-3am (which I know is out of the hands of the hotel but it still was distruptive when I was trying to sleep) was annoying.
I would not recommend staying here and I will not stay here again.
Extremely disappointed, especially with this being our first time staying in Banff, I will not stay here again.

Stayed in this hotel on our last night of a 10 day road trip - exactly as expected... nothing fancy, just a basic hotel room which had more than enough room for us. The bathroom was a little tight but worked. Breakfast was nothing special, but the location is great! Walking distance to everything. I have nothing to complain about, the service was good, the room was clean.

We stayed for 2 nights at the High Country Inn at Banff as part of our tour of the Rockies. Our room was huge, with 2 queen beds, wonderfully comfortable beds too. The room was at the back of the
hotel so quiet. The staff we dealt with were all friendly and a small problem we had with the fridge in our room was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Housekeeping was seamless and efficient too. We used the coin operated laundry in the basement as we are living out of suitcases for over a month so we found this an absolute godsend. The laundry was clean and only accessible with a room key. I noticed too that the corridors and stairways in this hotel were clean and well maintained. A continental breakfast was included and on the first morning we found this to be adequate for our needs, however this morning, before checking out, I noticed there were no bananas with the fruit, when I asked of the staff if they had any, I was told No, they had run out yesterday, well I know this was a holiday weekend but hey you are a hotel, get yourself organised!! Also the Danish pastries were inedible, mine ended up in the garbage.Obviously left over from the holiday weekend. Shame this marred an otherwise lovely stay

Stayed here with y family for two nights. The price was around 70€ per night from Hotwire, but normal price wouldn't have been much higher. On arrival, service was good, out of the few people working in the reception most were helpful and professional, the rest pretty laid back. Ok for a hotel like this I guess :)

Room was spacious and comfortable. Room temperature was pretty hot, but fortunately the evenings were still cool so we were able to get comfortable by opening the patio door.

I forgot to mention this at the hotel, but someone brought patio chairs to our balcony and left the door unlocked! Fortunately Banff is a pretty safe place. Also, the reception staff gave us wrong information about some of the hiking trails, good thing we also checked from the visitor center.

Overall, the stay was very much what we were expecting for the price.

This hotel looked a bit used but it was very clean, the beds were comfortable. It is close to downtown to walk (5-10min) and to other activities and things to see in the area. We had some difficulties with the shower-- we always had to wait a view minutes (3-5min) until the water had heaten up. We didn´t try the pool area, but it looked very clean. The continental breakfast in the morning was tasty and good and, like the parking, included. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpfull- we asked for a king size bed just a day befor we arrived and it was no problam at all for them to change- even the reply via email came within 12 hours.
The only thing we had where some young people next door, who slam the doors and srceamed and where very loud way after 1am- but that was the only big noise we heard. :)
