“Fantastic Accomodation for a Family with Young Children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2010

We rented an A lodge for 4 nights. The accomodation was all we could possibly wish for. It far exceeded our expectations despite having read some good reviews.

Great location, just a short walk from stunning viewpoints on Tunnel Mountain Road and 5 minutes drive from downtown Banff.

Our lodge had a very nice lounge area, comfortable bedrooms, decent cooking facilities and a balcony with Mountain views. It also had 3 large plasma TVs - perfect with the World Cup being on and two kids to keep amused.

For the evenings (or ropey weather) there's water slides, pool, hot tub for adults and kids and a great indoor playpark for toddlers.

Your positive feedback is very appreciated, thank you! I will ensure we pass along your positive comments to our staff. The new flat screen t.v.s and DVD players in all our guest rooms was a much anticipated improvement and I am so happy to hear that it came in handy during World Cup! As well, our A-Frame Chalets are so popular that I wish we had more! Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you back.

I stayed there for 2 nights with my family (2 kids) and my friend's family. It was very enjoyable stay, nice mountain view room, waterslides, play place for kids, good kitchen. I will stay again in this hotel whenever I will go back to Banff.

We were very happy with our stay at the Douglas Fir Resort and would definitely stay here again. The place is like a kids dream, with a playhouse and waterslide park! We first booked a one bedroom condo online, but changed to a loft condo at arrival due to the fact that a pack-n play will not fit in the one bedroom condo bedroom. So for anyone traveling with an infant definitely get the loft condo unless you plan on your baby sleeping in the living area. Also note that the one bedroom condo's do have stairs as well and the lower floor we were originally assigned to felt like a basement (very dark ). The loft condo although a little more expensive met our needs perfectly with us all able to sleep upstairs (2 adults one child and an infant) and we were able to block the stairs with a couple of chairs from the downstairs table. Also the view from our balcony was amazing! We were thrilled that the pack-n play and high chair were available at no extra charge. The decor and cleanliness were great (not a luxury condo) but very nice and comfortable. We also found the beds very comfortable. We did smell a little smoke from the downstairs neighbors fire at times, but no enough to bother us. The location was great, close enough to downtown, but quiet and out of the way enough to be peaceful. We would highly recommend this resort for families!

4 families with young and teenage children spent 2 nights in this location a little before Christmas. It is a great location and a very reasonable price. We cooked dinner together and cooked our breakfast separately. We enjoyed skiing during the day and used their swimming pool in the evening. I will go back again in summer to hike in the mountains.

We had a great stay. We went during the week, very quiet and clean, bedroom plus one loft. The only problem was the toilet would keep running if you didn't stop it, but we would just move the lid over a bit and that stopped it for the most part. It was great having a convenience store and liquor store right there. We also enjoyed watching a female elk walking around. She loved having her picture taken. My dad really enjoyed the hot tub. It was very quiet during the week, but it started to get busy on the weekend. They had barbeque pits outside for those that wanted cook a steak. It was also nice to see all the extras were free, so when you got the bill there was nothing extra charged on them. There was no restaurant right there, but if you had a kitchenette, like we did, you could make your own meals or cook outside. We enjoyed going downtown and trying out the different restaurants.
We got a big discount by booking 60 days in advance from travelocity.I would recommend to anyone.

We were quite thrilled with everything about the Douglas Fir Resort, from the friendly, courteous staff to the wonderful play centre, huge waterpark, and very nice LOFT IN LODGE accomodation (BONUS: we received 20% off our room rate with our Travel Alberta card). My husband and I slept in the queen Murphy bed (main level) with our 3-month-old baby in his playpen on the floor next to us. Our two preschool boys each slept in their own queen-sized bed in the upstairs loft. The kitchenette was VERY well-stocked - the only thing we would bring from home next time is cooking spray, saran wrap, and a muffin tin (if you want to make muffins). We found that having the kitchenette signinificanty reduced the overall cost of our trip, while also eliminating the stress of dining out with rambuncious little people . The resort is an 8-minute drive from the town site, but there is a grocery store, laundromat, and free unlimited use of the Banff Transit buses. A 10/10 experience - we would defintely come back!
