“very good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2010

stayed in a studio here and it was too good with good views of the mountains straight from the balcony door. Got a very good deal on expedia rather than direct booking. Nice rooms with rustic touch and comfortable beds. Would like to come back again.

holiday of a lifetime ,everything was fantastic. service accommodation, location .
but what makes the douglas fir for us , was the fact we where caught up in the volcanic airspace troubles. most good resorts / hotels will look after their guests to acceptable standards when everything is running smoothly but the douglas fir pulled out all the stops to help us as a family when we where stranded for 10 days extra , they found us another chalet for our extended stay .offering us help and advise on a whole range of issues to help keep our expenditure to a minimum.when we return to canada we will definetly be staying at this resort again,

Have just returned from a two-week ski trip based at Douglas Fir. The one-bedroomed condo was comfortable and spacious and was plenty big enough for two adults and two active children. Although it was then end of the winter season and there was evidence of some wear and tear in the apartment, there was a daily maid service which made sure everything was kept to a high standard. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the facilities in the resort were really great - water chutes and hot pools for relief at the end of the day; playzone for the kids who still had the energy; outdoor playpark and even a number of free gas barbecues for all to use. The ski-bus picks up right outside the complex, so no trudging around in ski boots! The only down-side was the proximity to town, which is only a 15-20 minute walk. There is a free bus which is perfect but the buses are not so frequent as to make this very convenient for trips to the supermarket after skiing etc.
All in all I think we would have no hesitation in returning to Douglas Fir as the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. Staying here with kids is a dream - far better than a hotel room! Thanks a lot for a great holiday.

Stayed in a studio suite at a very reasonable price. Kids loved the play place and waterslides. The rooms were extremely clean and cozy. Will definately stay there again.

My two daughters (ages 10 and 8) and I stayed at this hotel one night in early March. We all loved it. The room was spotless and my girls enjoyed the kids play zone and loved the water slides.

I have usually stayed downtown (at the Caribou Lodge) but finding this hotel was a bonus. With the kitchen we saved on meals and the kid friendly amenities scored many points with the girls.

Even if you forget something from the grocery store before arriving, there is a small convenience store at the resort that offers all kinds of food options to cook up (eggs, bacon, frozen foods, juice, milk, munchies).

It was very quiet (perhaps in part due to the lack of snow so fewer skiers than normal).

I would recommend it in a second to other parents.

We loved the place. Superb facilities for families, with the small waterpark and the children playzone. The room was super clean, the kitchen well equiped. Banff downtown is 3 minutes away by car or bus, with all the restaurants and boutiques you need... We had some great skiing at Sunshine and norquay and all the family wants to go back some time.

Our famiy, from babies to adults, enjoyed our stay in this clean, well-equipped kitchenette suite for the family day weekend. We used the bus services from right outside the door for both skiing and shopping downtown Banff. Courteous staff. We will stay again!
