“Perfect for family!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

This hotel has an amazing indoor playground and 2 water slides. The kitchen's are very well set up and make it easy to cook from the room. Location is beautiful, only a few minutes from central Banff without being in the town.

Real value for money and a real pleasant place. The chalets are a little dated, but Canadian décor is very different from British and therefore this resort is very Canadian. Log fire was great, kitchen was equipped with all we needed. Great to have the windows open on to the patio area. In all fairness, this is a really pleasant little place. Facilities are good for families and cleaners clean every day. I stayed in Jasper in a similar place, cost twice the price and was not as pleasant so for me this really is value for money.

service were great at lobby and staff were very friendly and seemed well trained. Although, our door had traces of being broken in before and was a bit worried about our rooms security. Pool area didnt feel so clean and a bit dangerous for 5 under kids.
playroom was too dark and cold.

The best things about this resort are the recreation facilities for kids, and those are EXCELLENT! Really, if it should rain while you're staying in Banff, this is THE place to be with kids. The indoor play land is gorgeous and clean, with seating for parents and kid-friendly washrooms. The cabins themselves are not great - dated, worn, and a bit grimy. There's a difference between rustic and dirty, and this has crossed that line. There's dirt in every corner, stained towels, marks on the walls and dried spills on the couch and chairs. The cabins have a smoky odor, probably due to guests that aren't skilled at using the wood-burning fireplace (not the fault of the hotel). We stayed in a 1 bdrm loft, which was tons of space for our family of 4, kids aged 3 and 5. Beautiful grounds, fantastic location, very nice community feel. Our unit had 3 flat screen tv's and a full kitchen, parking right at the door. With a thorough cleaning, some fresh linens and new paint, this would be a truly amazing hotel! As it was, it was pleasant enough, and the kids adored it!

Located a bit away from the main street, so it's quite there. Will be good fit for people looking for some simple yet nice place to stay. We stayed in one bedroom suite, enough room for 2 kids and 2 adults there. Indoor playground and couple of water slides is really great addition for the rainy days if you are staying with kids.

We order the breakfast at the room was great lots of stuff
One of the lights at the loft didn't work, location is good quiet and pool is great for kids to have fun
They could use better parking since spaces are small

A friend and myself decided to stay at the Douglas fir and booked a loft room in the main lodge building.......very roomy.......yes, it may be a little dated, but its clean and well kept.......2 queen beds in loft with a bathroom as well..........downstairs has a sofa and chair combo with a coffee table and TV......also a wood burning fireplace and full kitchen with kitchen table and chairs.......also on main floor, there is a full bathroom....so you're getting 2 bathrooms.......also has a balcony with resin chairs.......try to request a room NOT facing the main road.....lots of traffic early in the morning.....there is a wonderful waterslide complex , free of charge for guests......underground parking.......located up on picturesque tunnel mountain.....also on site is a convenience store and a liquor store as well as a Laundromat.....a great place to stay......
