Was slightly concerned after reading some previous reviews but if you don't mind the slightly dated decor and have a balcony overlooking the Bow View River which was spectacular.i'm glad i chose this one. The accommodation was fine with a good sized room and waking up to a magnificent river view was an advantage that no other hotel had around. We dined at the partner hotel which was more modern but didnt have the same views.
Banff is undergoing major roadworks so it was nice to be away from the noise of that and yet within a few minutes walk to the centre of town. Plenty of nice restaurants around. Also a must is the gondola trip which gave amazing views of the area. Did a Brewster tour to Lake Louise and Morraine lake which we actually preferred. Great location for a few days stay.

We were somewhat apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the reviews, but were very pleasantly surprised to find it was actually very good. Our room was on the upper floor overlooking the Bow River and was peaceful and quiet. Parking was free and there was an excellent complimentary buffet breakfast at the sister lodge next door. The one drawback was the lack of air conditioning - would have been very welcome as it was quite hot whilst we were in Banff.
We found this hotel to be clean and comfortable throughout and the staff were all helpful and friendly. The cost was quite reasonable for a busy resort and we would definitely stay here again, as we found it indeed much better than other reviews had suggested.

We were on a road trip to Vancouver. We stopped in Medicine Hat for one night, Hinton for another night. Toured Jasper, and stopped in for one night in Banff to do more sightseeing. The hotel is much older and cheaper than its sister hotel, the Banff Park Lodge. If you don't mind the maroon carpeting, blue curtains this hotel is not a bad pick. They had a special -- $120 for 2 double beds (2 adults, 2 kids). We also had a balcony. The rooms overlooking the bow river cost a litte bit more. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions - they had mini maps of the town. There is no restaurant or pool, but you can use the facilities at the Banff Park Lodge free of charge. On the downside we had to pay extra to have wireless internet (we brought our laptop with us). There is also a charge for each local call made.

Everything is pricey within the park, and since we wanted to stay within the park, this was one of the most reasonable places we could find. The room was small, though very clean and adequate. No air conditioning, though probably not needed most of the time here. The motel in general could use some maintenance. Parking is rather haphazard. Internet charge was $10 for 24 hrs. which we went without for a night. Wireless internet is almost always free in any other place we've stayed. Good enough overall and probably the least expensive place you'll find in this tourist town.
