5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

By far this was the best stay in our 8 day road trip that took us from PDX > Glacier > Banff > Jasper > Clearwater > Harrison > PDX.

We booked ourselves into the river suite & it was SPACIOUS. Fully equipped & @ a reasonable cost (define reasonable?), we enjoyed our stay here immensely. Plus the City of Banff was great. We liked it so much that once we checked in @ our next destination (Lake Louise Inn - separate review), we thought of traveling back to stay another night here.

The staff, Kate & Meghan, were super helpful & gave us some local driving pointers & eating recos, to enjoy the day.

Thank you for making our stay memorable.

We recently stayed at this hotel while on a tour through the Canadian Rockies and would only use it as a last resort. The rooms are very small and very old. It was clean but. That is the only good words I have. The tub was not draining very well and it took two complaints before they attempted to fix it. No restaurant but one next door. Our stay was arranged by a tour company and wonder if they are not the owners. As I said earlier, would only stay here again if no other rooms were available. For such a beautiful resort town, we expected much nicer rooms than what we had here.

Room Tip: Believe all rooms were the same.

Dated but clean room. The beds were very hard. Good location. Inadequate parking. Booked at last minute at high season. If staying longer in Banff, would definitely stay elsewhere. An update is much needed.

We booked 8 months in advance and the requested room with one king size bed was not available. The one with 2 queen beds is too full. There is no space to walk around the beds. All night passing trains use a claxon . This woke me up every time. Girl at the teception could invest in friendlyness. City Centre is across the street.

We spent 2 nights here and would definitely stay here again, if we got a river view. The view changes an average room into a spectacular room. The room we had was not large, but had enough room for our needs. There were 2 beds: one double, one twin. It had a small frig, and a small tv. The balcony had 2 chairs and we spent each evening sitting there enjoying the view and the peaceful setting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking was free, but tight. There's no amenities in this hotel. The fitness center and restaurants are across the parking lot in the sister hotel, Banff Lodge. The concierge there was very helpful. The WiFi was not free. We could walk almost everywhere, so the free parking was great.

This was one of the last hotels with space in Banff when we we're looking for a place, and although decent, don't expect too much. The room was clean and had everything you needed. There is no aircon, and pillows were lumpy. Walking distance to town center, but a away from the noise.

Hello happyann3

Thank you for staying with us during your visit to Banff. We are often told we have one of the best location in Banff. We are very close to downtown, but the hotel is still very quiet and almost hidden along the Bow River.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay

The Canadian Rockies are very very picturesque. I want to sing "The hills are alive with sound of music" most of the time, but I've heard my voice and didn't want to disturb the rest of the tourists. Banff is three blocks long and two and a half blocks wide and is overlooked by all the mountains you ever want to look at. But, be aware, the LOCALS told us, BANFF stands for Be Aware Nothing For Free. They weren't kidding! Actually I think Banff suffers from Gstaad-envy and want to charge like a Swiss.

Being a block and a half off the main street, the Bow Valley Lodge was a smaller room, with not air (we were in the middle of a heat wave) and could easily walk the town. The Safeway was two blocks away, as was the excellent Whyte Museum.

The room passed muster.

Room Tip: If you need anything go to the Safeway, the [not] dollar store or the Thrift Store. You might leave...
