“Room with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

You cannot put a price on the River view from this hotel - it's just perfect. Basic but ultra clean room with veranda. Views & location are perfect & if you need more amenities they're right next door in the sister hotel Banff Park Lodge. I would highly recommend staying here. Professional, polite & helpful staff in both hotels. We had breakfast & Dinner at the sister hotel & these were excellent dining experiences. Menu is interesting & food is of excellent quality with class A service. There is a Swimming pool & sauna which we didn't use due to a packed itinerary. The Lodge is perfectly situated for river walks, canoeing, town, bars & restaurants. We didn't have a car & didn't need one, we walked, used the local bus (2$ any stop in Banff) & went on some coach tours. Perfectly relaxing, no stress travel. Pick ups for Tours from hotel. Wildlife was brilliant, saw Elk, Bears, Beavers, Kayote - a truly amazing place to visit. Service at all local bars & restaurants is an absolute delight. Never met such friendly & genuine people. Everyone seems to have an extra happy gene ... But then the place is a perfect place to live & visit. Go see it!!!

I recently spent a week here. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. We were on the 2nd floor overlooking the river. It was an easy 5min walk to all downtown had to offer. The staff(especially Teegan) were wonderful.I would definitely stay here again.PS Don't miss the Sun.buffet at the Banff Park Lodge.

I spent two days in Banff, and the Bow View is on the edge of town. The downtown is tiny, so the hotel is within walking distance of the main shopping and dining areas. The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was neat and clean. It isn't the type of place you would want to spend a lot of time in- especially during summer because there is SO much to do in Banff- hiking, biking, etc.

We stayed here 2 nights in early May, 2015. This is a good time to visit Banff as it is their low season, so there are lots of vacancies and you can get a good deal, which we did. We got a 3rd floor room with a balcony and a view of a riverfront park and pathway and the Bow River and mountains behind. It was very quiet and peaceful and probably the best view in town. It was all that and a 2 minute walk to downtown Banff, which was very handy. The room itself was on the small side, but certainly not puny. Ours had a queen size and single bed and all the expected amenities. I gauge it to be a 3 star property. The front desk person who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful with our questions about Banff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and river view. Good rates in early May.

Whether or not a building is old or the rooms outdated – which even management acknowledges – a comfortable bed is important. Unfortunately, they were very, very firm, reminding me of dorm room mattresses. The comforters were thin and slipped to the sides throughout the night.

The red carpet extends into the bathroom area, covering the floor underneath the sink, which would be great to see replaced. The room with the tub and toilet is tiled.

The location of the hotel couldn't be much better though. And if you're lucky to have a room facing the river, than I'm sure it's all the more sweeter. Because we faced the parking lot, though, we had to keep our sliding door closed most of the time because of the engines of idling coaches or the beeping when backing up. A sign also advised us to keep it closed for security reasons, which in the absence of a window is a shame while visiting Banff and wanting to bring the fresh mountain air into the room.

Staff members were very kind and enthusiastic - cheers to them!

Note: in the lodge's website photos of the standard rooms you can see bathrobes, but these were not included with our stay.

I have travelled to Banff and area for YEARS on business... this is a hidden gem found. It is a sister hotel to the Banff Park Lodge so if you want a hot tub or whatever - you can use theirs (next door). the rooms are, as stated, a bit dated but they are large and I often spent part of the evening &/or morning catching up with e-mail.
Walk the streets of Banff & come back to this little gem just off the Bow River.. lovely walk along thee to cleanse the mind ...I have always found the service to been good. they get lots of bus tours that stop overnight (as many hotels do in Banff)
If you want a meal close by, there's the Banff Pk Lodge next door, they have restaurant & lounge, both very good, they have a beautiful breakfast (they also have fitness facilities I believe) There are also a LOT of good restaurants all around ..

For a Calgary person, staying in Banff is just a convenience. With Banff just a hour away by car and a couple by bus, we just chose to stay in Banff for the experience.

Bow view lodge is just a average hotel which suits the pocket. I have nothing more to add. No free breakfast and average rooms. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean.

The place is run down and needs a solid makeover.

All in all, No major complaints. After all nobody stays in their hotel when in the Rockies.

Room Tip: Take a room whose balcony faces the Bow River.
