“Cozy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We had reserved one night here, but were ahead of schedule, so we called to book another night, and were able to do so without a problem. We were in a great room at the end of the hall on the second floor. Not facing the river, but we had a balcony which we liked. Our room had a king bed, small sofa, table, refrigerator and TV. It also included a table fan. As far as we could tell, this room did not have A/C, so that's what the fan was for. We would have preferred A/C, but luckily, it wasn't too hot while we were there. We used the laundry, which was in the sister hotel next door. One set of machines was broken, so we had to use the other, trying to share one washer and one dryer with two other guests. The free hot breakfast was also in this sister hotel and was substantial and delicious. All the staff were wonderful.

Thank you for your review of our property. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your room and our buffet breakfast at our sister property Banff Park Lodge. We call the room you were in a ‘standard room with one king bed.’ These rooms have private balconies and offer a nice view of Cascade Mountain.

The hotel is right next to the river boo, all or most of the rooms turn to the river direction. Hotel is about a hundred meters from the main street of the town. Room we got on the first floor contained two large beds was big and clean.. Room has a refrigerator and coffee maker. Reception staff was not particularly nice. if you asking the price for the room was expensive for consideration.

Room Tip: take room in the river side

It really is just your typical little hotel, ok rooms for the price, clean a bit small for 4 people but it didn't matter to us as we only stayed a couple nights. What was really fantastic about this place was the Customer service. When we arrived in our room I was looking around and noticed that there was a few cans of butane sitting on the floor with one can being opened, we have two children so I figured it was not a very safe thing to have sitting around, so we brought it down to the sevice desk and the very friendly lady ( cannot remember her name :( ) was very upset about it, and later suprised us with 2 vouchers for free breakfast for our family. So all in all we were very happy with this hotel.

This feels more like a motel than a lodge, but we had a nice view with a balcony overlooking the Bow River. It is situated away from the busy main street (Banff Ave) and is therefore much quieter. The setting is lovely. The property is a bit dated with a small lobby, but the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed our two nights here. The outside of the building has an interesting "mid-century modern" look and a great totem pole. There is a nice path along the Bow River.

Room Tip: Get a room that overlooks the river.

We had a three day stop over at Bow View Lodge. The location on the Bow river is quiet as was the room , which looked onto the hotel access road. We had a good size clean room with comfortable bed with an equally decent sized bathroom, a nice couch and TV which never worked throughout our stay. Not that we watch TV on vacation but we were there at the time of the floods and the local news would have been of benefit. Other amenities included WiFi a fridge and there was an ice machine adjacent to the lift. There was plenty of parking spaces , right outside of the hotel and you can use the pool, Jacuzzi and steam room in the sister hotel immediately opposite.
Our first problem happened on the second day, we returned to our room just after lunch, our door was open and cables boxes were strewn about and the furniture all out of place. No one was in but we assumed the cable guy was rewiring the TV and was close by. When we returned that evening five hours later our door was still open with all our valuables in easy reach, fortunately nothing had been taken. We went to reception and the lady came to our room could not have been more apologetic at the disarray, mess and lack of security stating she would have a word with the manager and he would be in touch with us! This never happened .
The following day the floods arrived and all roads were blocked, washed away, or impassable. We were due to leave, as were quite a few others but could not due to the situation and tried to book for another night, we were told that they had a bus coming in and all rooms were taken . FROM WHERE , IT HAD TO BE AN AIRBUS!
Throughout the staff were courteous and helpful issuing us with a town map and other local information on arrival. The final day was out of their hands as it was the manager who saw fit to take in the airbus.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We are pleased to hear that you were happy with your in-room amenities and that you were able to use our free on-site parking lot. We are also pleased that you enjoyed the service provided by our courteous front desk agents.

We regret to hear about your experience while the hotel was installing high definition cable boxes. After each installation the hotel followed-up with the service technician to ensure each guest room was clean and secure - We sincerely apologize that this was missed in your room and we will make every effort to improve our coordination with out-of-house technicians for future visits.

In regards to the hotel’s availability following the flooding - Our rooms were contracted by a tour bus operator. Although the tour that was due to arrive could not make it due to the road closures, the operator informed us that they had another tour (already in Banff) that required accommodation. In this situation they assumed responsibility for their contracted rooms and essentially took the place of the original tour. We contacted a variety of local hotels and provided our guests with rates and availability so they could make an informed decision during the local state of emergency. Our front desk agents also made reservations directly for the guests who wished to book our recommended properties sight unseen.

Staff was friendly, room was clean, bed and pillows comfortable, frig and microwave provided. No a/c, but the provide a fan and considering you are in Canada where it cools off at night, one can't complain. The room was a little small if you have more than 2 people, but everything was satisfactory compared to the price of other motels. Would stay there again.
