We had a three day stop over at Bow View Lodge. The location on the Bow river is quiet as was the room , which looked onto the hotel access road. We had a good size clean room with comfortable bed with an equally decent sized bathroom, a nice couch and TV which never worked throughout our stay. Not that we watch TV on vacation but we were there at the time of the floods and the local news would have been of benefit. Other amenities included WiFi a fridge and there was an ice machine adjacent to the lift. There was plenty of parking spaces , right outside of the hotel and you can use the pool, Jacuzzi and steam room in the sister hotel immediately opposite.
Our first problem happened on the second day, we returned to our room just after lunch, our door was open and cables boxes were strewn about and the furniture all out of place. No one was in but we assumed the cable guy was rewiring the TV and was close by. When we returned that evening five hours later our door was still open with all our valuables in easy reach, fortunately nothing had been taken. We went to reception and the lady came to our room could not have been more apologetic at the disarray, mess and lack of security stating she would have a word with the manager and he would be in touch with us! This never happened .
The following day the floods arrived and all roads were blocked, washed away, or impassable. We were due to leave, as were quite a few others but could not due to the situation and tried to book for another night, we were told that they had a bus coming in and all rooms were taken . FROM WHERE , IT HAD TO BE AN AIRBUS!
Throughout the staff were courteous and helpful issuing us with a town map and other local information on arrival. The final day was out of their hands as it was the manager who saw fit to take in the airbus.

We regret to hear about your experience while the hotel was installing high definition cable boxes. After each installation the hotel followed-up with the service technician to ensure each guest room was clean and secure - We sincerely apologize that this was missed in your room and we will make every effort to improve our coordination with out-of-house technicians for future visits.
In regards to the hotel’s availability following the flooding - Our rooms were contracted by a tour bus operator. Although the tour that was due to arrive could not make it due to the road closures, the operator informed us that they had another tour (already in Banff) that required accommodation. In this situation they assumed responsibility for their contracted rooms and essentially took the place of the original tour. We contacted a variety of local hotels and provided our guests with rates and availability so they could make an informed decision during the local state of emergency. Our front desk agents also made reservations directly for the guests who wished to book our recommended properties sight unseen.
