“Squished spiders, dried up noodles and a "gift "in the toilet from previous guests...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014 via mobile

Stayed in this hotel after getting what we believed to be a fantastic deal . Honestly I wish I would have just spent the $30 extra on a nicer hotel . The room itself was old and dirty. Sheets were full of holes ,squished bugs on the wall , a dried noodle next to our coffee pot not to mention "presents" smeared in the toilet from previous guests. Staff wasnt too friendly and It's pretty far from downtown. Honestly DO NOT stay here .

its really dated and pretty poorly ran. go elsewhere. Many more places deeper in town with more amenities and closer location to the essence of Banff: tourism, partying, drinking, eating & spending money. If you want a nice couples retreat, book out of town a little further and enjoy the beautiful natural wonders of this park.

Pros - cheap in Banff, not too far from main strip (15 min walk, $7 cab ride), friendly staff, free basic breakfast, fairly clean, hot tub nice and warm

Cons - beds are absolutely terrible (squeak, springy, flat), breakfast is terrible (extra price for hot food), ugly and old, signs of wear and tear very obvious, hot tub not the cleanest, paper thin walls with people being lots at 3am

Overall - don't stay here unless you are getting a killer deal compared to all other properties in the area (as we did) even then evaluate if it's worth it to spend an extra few $ because this place is one the most beat up places I've ever stayed and I'm okay with most things but uncomfy mattresses are a no go, as a hotel they have not changed the mats for probably 10+ years

this hotel is terrible, I got upgraded to a room that had broken blinds, stained carpets and noise all around. I complained they told me they wouldn't charge me for my room. Then three months later they put the charge through on my card and wouldn't refund it after. I wouldn't stay here if it was the last hotel in Banff. better off at the hostel.

Room Tip: don't stay here

We just got back from a weekend stay at the Voyager. It was a nice stay, the rooms and washrooms were clean and as expected for the price paid. If you expect luxury you will not find it here. We booked a superior room which doesn't differ much form standard room, except for the size and a blow-dryer, we needed to change our room as the superior room was very cold, not sure if it was just this room or because it was on the corner outside wall. The weather was very cold that weekend to -40 but that should not effect the room temperature if the heating was working. The new room was nice and warm, there was no problems changing the room. Not much of a view from this room, a brick wall lol but we really just needed a place to sleep so no big deal. Not all rooms have blow-dryers, you can ask for one at the front they only have limited quantities. Breakfast was ok, you get a $7/person voucher for continental breakfast (yogurt, pastry, serial etc.) if you want warm breakfast (egg, bacon, hash browns) you will have to pay $7/person extra. Breakfast was ok, nothing special did it's job. There is a pool, sauna and hot tub in the hotel, did not use it so can't comment on cleanliness etc. There is also a little pub, and a liquor store in the lobby. Parking is free, and covered. It's a bit of a walk to town. Overall the place is decent, nothing special, but clean and the staff was pleasant.

Room Tip: Superior rooms (corner rooms) was cold Some of the inside rooms have no view (brick wall)

We got a room, semi-last minute, at this motel in Banff for $60/night. Not a bad rate in Banff, although it is off-season. I wasn't expecting a lot, and we didn't get a lot. We really only needed a clean place to shower and sleep. The hotel room was plain, but appeared clean. The furniture is quite worn, and there are a lot of scratches etc on the dresser and counter tops, but it isn't dirty. Just in desperate need of an update. They did give us $7 breakfast vouchers, but the vouchers only get you the "cold" breakfast items, so you have to pay an additional $7 for access to the "hot" food which was bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs (very dry) and some hash brown potatoe cubes. It was food, which we needed, and it wasn't fancy, but that's ok. Honestly, if you need a place to sleep and a hot shower but don't care for the extras, this is a fine place for the price. The hot tub was empty and out of service, and the lounge is kind of sketchy. The computer was broken (I see from another review that it was broken back in August, so still not fixed), but they DO offer free WiFi, which is more than a lot of high-end hotels offer. All in all, we got what we paid for and I can't complain about that.

Room Tip: I'm not sure there is a "good room", they are all pretty plain and need updating, but...

A very pleasant stay. The Voyager connects with the hotel next door where you'll find a cosy bar with friendly locals. The inn itself has some quaint rooms facing the street. The rear ones lack a view. Rooms were comfy, but corridors were unattractive & somewhat grotty. Its a fair walk into town but buses pass the door.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room.
