“Nice resort, great customer service, and needs some renos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2009

The resort is nice, quiet, has in an indoor pool, indoor hot tub, and a nice and very hot hot tub outside. This resort has great customer service, if you need something they will bring it to you and help you out all most instantly.

I stayed in a one bedroom suite, which had a bit of a hard bed, and needed some serious renovations (some rot in the bathroom, peeling wall paper in the unit, paint patch marks etc).

I understand some of the units have been renovated, so maybe try and request one of those if you can. The unit came with a fully function kitchen, (which is a great feature as you will go broke eating out in Banff except maybe at Spaghetti Factory) with all pots and utensils, only thing missing is no stove (only a stove top).

The resort itself was in decent/good shape, but could also use some upgrading and renos too. Most resorts offer free wireless internet, but not here.

The shuttle bus was a great feature as finding parking in Banff can be a headache at times, once I took the shuttle bus in town, and instead of taking it back decided to walk which takes about 40 minutes.

Quick tip for travelers, don't forget that 10 minutes east of Banff is a bigger town called Canmore with bigger grocery stores and not so inflated prices... albeit the restaurants were equally overpriced.

In conclusion, with some upgrading of the resort, and further renovations of the units, this resort has the potential to be one of the best places to stay in Banff given all the features, amenities, and spectacular customer service!

Great location, amazing views, and very short drive to Banff town centre.
Party of 8 stayed in the hotel for 7days, pool not to special, and hot tub was ok, but with magnificent views, didnt bother too much. Lodges very spacious, and fine for the short amount of time we stayed in them. White water rafting trip picked us up outside the reception. Free shuttle bus took us to the centre, and picked us up late at night once we had been out. Great restaurants in Banff. The Elk - great curry, and Melissa's great atmosphere.

No problems at all and overall quite pleasant. Our stay was marred by lousy weather but the 2 bedroom unit we had was more than enough space for 2 and our puppy. Full kitchen was well supplied with full size appliances, suite was warm and quiet and most likely recently renovated. Staff were helpful and prompt without being pushy. Main lodge had excellent facilities for swimming, hot tub (inside and out), gym and squash courts. Overall just fine. Downtown Banff was only 5 minutes away by car but the resort offers a shuttle service if needed.

Accommodation small, scruffy and tired. If you want to stay in a time warp ala 1980s then this is the place for you. Seems you can call ahead and request a renovated unit if available. We did not know about this. Should have read more reviews on this site first.
We traded a fabulous 2 master suites unit from our Grand Mayan for this one bedroom, 300 sq ft unit that was in need of a major redo. using San Francisco Exchange (not recommended) Location good. Staff friendly and helpful. The city of Banff was wonderful. Great pubs, food and nightlife. Skiing and views to die for. Would return to Banff but not this resort.

I have stayed at this hotel 2 times now. Once for a conference a few years ago and then with my wife for a night away. The rooms are quite comfortable and very clean. I loved waking up in the morning to a view of the montains and little to no traffic. Because this place is just out of town you do not get the constant bus and car traffic.

we stayed in a loft suite for 3 nights and would stay here again. the room was very, very clean must have been newly renovated. the loft suite had plently of space with 1 and 1/2 baths, wood fireplace, fully stocked kitchen, large bathroom, plenty of closet space. it is about a five minute drive to town with nice mountain views. The resort is sort of close to the road but it wasn't very noisy. the hot tub/pool area is located in the main lodge and is sort of small for the size of the resort..it was crowded when we used it but it was okay for a quick soak. Overall, a good value when booked using the skibig3.com package deals. We did get charged extra for internet, and firewood.

When we arrived, the guest relations lady told us where our unit was by circling it on a map of the premises. It was very confusing as to how to get to the particular unit. My husband had to carry our luggage up the stairs outside and walk all the way down to the end of the complex to find out our unit was on the back side. We then had to go back down the stairs and try to find it up the stairs on the other side. It would have been nice if someone would have accompanied us to the complex to show us where the room was. When we got in it smelled like a backed up sewer. The fireplace didn't work at all. The room seemed like it was nicely renovated, but it appeared to be a high-end Best Western motel, not a resort by any means. I was itchy all night, but didn't see any bugs. When I showered in the morning, the shower curtain smelled like smoke. The bathtub could use a little renovating as their was grout around the tub. We kept the bathroom door closed all night to try to reduce the backed-up sewer smell, but it didn't help much. I would never stay there again. It was one of the worst, if not the worst, hotel I ever stayed in.
