We stayed at this resort over Christmas 2007, we are a family of 4. The facilities are great - indoor pool, hot tub, shuttle to downtown Banff (every hour not half hour), ski pick ups however if you are unlucky to stay in a unit that has not been renovated then prepare yourselves for problems. We requested over 18 months ago a 2 bedroom renovated unit close to the hot tub, we ended up with an unrenovated unit that was a walk to the hot tub!! The units are small but clean. However our upstairs shower leaked thru to the kitchen - behind the microwave to be exact (it was not a small leak but we had to use loads of towels arount the shower to try and stop a waterfall in the kitchen !!!!). Judging from the state of the cupboards behind the microwave this issue has been an ongoing problem. This is a serious issue due to electrical wires and fire however it took us numerous complaints (sometimes more than twice a day) to numerous staff to finally get some result even then it was the night before we checked out (our stay was for 7 days!!). From our final conversations we were not the only ones complaining. On our last day our water was turned off without our knowledge. We would only stay here again if the resort has been fully renovated.

We stayed for a week in a renovated 1 brd suite over new years. It had some pros & cons. We arrived about 7pm and had to wait 2 hours for our room to be ready. Ask for a renovated suite. The unit was small for a family of 4,expecially with all our ski gear, the kitchen was decent with enough dishes and utensils. You wouldn't really use the fireplace it's really close to the couch. The sofabed however was extremely bad, even for children. We had to put 4 layers of blankets on top of the mattress, so the kids didn't have springs in thier backs. They offered a second mattess but it was even worse. The hot tub was nice but it can be a bit of a hike to get there depending on how far your suite is from the lobby. The bathroom was a nice size with a great shower. We bought someones timeshare week so we had a good deal. It's good value if you get a deal. The rooms are noisy as well. You will hear people upstairs walking around. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. I would get a 2 bdrm next time.

I booked this hotel on TD reward points, I enjoyed staying in this hotel, awesome outside pool, inside pool and steam room.

You definitely have a nice mountain/ snow view from the room.

The hotel is right at the end of main drive, so not too far from downtown, but definitely need to drive to downtown, which hotel will provide a shuttle bus.

We booked a one bedroom suit, it is a bit small then I thought.

We have nowhere to put our luggage other than the floor of the kitchen, I would suggest a standard room rather than one bedroom suit.

We do hear people walking upstairs, but it did not bother us too much, best thing for us if we are able to take our lovely dog with us, we all enjoyed it and we will stay there again for sure.

“Hopeful but Disappointed”

Newly decorated rooms, thank goodness, but done well for a resort in this price range. Still shabby on the outside. The room was small but we knew to expect that from the reviews of others, so that was ok. It had no view - actually that of other buildings. You could hear every footstep from above so I would recommend you stay upstairs, if you are going to stay here. The front desk clerk that helped us each time seemed "dense" and irritated at the simpliest of inquiries...never friendly and helpful.

We wouldn't stay there again unless we had to especially after staying at Delta Lodge at Kananaskis and other quality resorts that let you know their clients are their main focus. You can sure tell a difference.

and a magnificent area of scenery! We stayed at the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort in June and had a great experience. Our unit was a one-bedroom and there were 3 of us. Our adult daughter slept on the sofa-bed. The unit had recently been completely updated and was tastefully decorated and very clean. The living room is quite small as well as the bedroom but it was adequate for the 3 of us. We were on the ground floor and had no noise problems. The train in the early a.m. did not bother us and even added to the ambience of the place. The front desk people were most helpful. We did not take part in any of the hikes because we did all this on our own. The cafe Peppers was good, esp. for breakfast. Did not eat at the more expensive restaurant. MUSTS: Lake Minnetanka- close by. Can hike, picnic and take boat ride there. Along the way, take road to Johnson Lake and take a delightful hike around the lake. Then drive past Two Jack Lake---beautiful view! Neat place to picnic and saw many mountain goats and bighorn sheep along the road. Went there several times just to see the animals and even saw 2 wedding parties taking pictures! Lake Louise is beautiful and can hike and canoe there. Found a grocery store in a strip mall in Lake Louise Village where we purchased a styrofoam cooler to take on picnics (we flew to Calgary, then rented a car). Ate a wonderful buffet lunch at the Chateau in the Victoria Room. Expensive but so worth it...wonderful view! The Banff-Jasper Hwy. is absolutely beautiful with many many interesting stops along the way. Be sure to stop at the Columbian Icefields and take a snowcoach ride to the glacier, Peyto Lake, Athabasca Falls, Mistaya Canyon, Sunwapta Falls. It is not possible to make the drive from Banff to Jasper in one day and see all there is to see. We spent one night in Jasper. Be sure to drive to Maligne Lake and take the boat ride- absolutely beautiful! Saw a large black bear and 2 cubs along the road there. Field (closer to Lake Louise) is an interesting OLD town- go into the General Store. Beyond Field is beautiful Emerald Lake- the color of the water is like the name!. Saw 4 bears on highway.
Good restaurants: Banff- Evelyn's Coffee House, Earl's, Maple Leaf, Bumpers. Jasper: Bear's Paw Bakery, Black Sheep Cafe (great brkfst), Evil Dave's Grill. Had a bad experience (long long wait) at Spaghetti Factory in Banff but we wrote a review and they sent us 2 gift cards which was nice.
Saw many animals in the wild throughout the week we were in the Canadian Rockies- 9 bears, many bighorn sheep, many mountain goats, white tailed deer, coyote, bald eagle, many elk.
Food is more expensive there than in the US. Main street in Banff was completely tore up for replacement but sidewalks were usable for shopping. Shopping is pretty up-scale in Banff. Highly recommend this wonderful area to vacation. The scenery is tops!
